Blachowicz lost his belt last month at UFC 267 when he was submitted in the first round by Glover Teixeira in what was a big upset. It was a disappointing loss for Blachowicz, who was coming off of a huge win over Israel Adesanya in his last fight. But he is already looking to get back into the cage and get back on track. Although losing that fight to Teixeira was one of the low points of Blachowicz’s UFC career, he often bounces back well from losses, and the Pole is confident that he can make it back to the top of the mountain.

UFC light heavyweight contender Jiri Prochazka has denied being offered an upcoming fight against “liar” Aleksandar Rakic. Prochazka was the backup on Fight Island for the main event of UFC 268 between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira. While Blachowicz entered the fight as a big favorite to defend his UFC light heavyweight title, it was Teixeira who emerged as the champion. The common thinking is that Prochazka will be next in line to fight for the belt, but UFC president Dana White was non-committal to that when asked by the media following UFC 268. Because White hasn’t come out and 100 percent confirmed that Prochazka is next in line, there is the possibility now that Prochazka will have to fight Rakic instead.

Smith won his third straight fight in the Octagon when he submitted Spann in the first round of their UFC Vegas 37 main event. For Smith, he has now won three straight fights by stoppage over Spann, Jimmy Crute, and Devin Clark. With a three-fight win streak now in his back pocket, “Lionheart” believes he has the ammunition he needs in order to call out the top dogs at 205lbs, and right now, Rakic is one of the best fighters in the weight class.

Blachowicz takes on Glover Teixeira this fall at UFC 266 in his second light heavyweight title defense after getting the best of Israel Adesanya earlier this year at UFC 259. While we know that Teixeira is the next man in line to fight for the belt, after that, it’s hard to say who is next in line for the title. The smart money is on Prochazka, who has knocked out Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes in his first two UFC fights, but Rakic is 6-1 overall in the UFC and isn’t far back from the belt. Then there’s also Magomed Ankalaev, who is 6-1 overall in the Octagon, as well. Any of these three men could be a future Blachowicz foe.

Prochazka is the hottest name in the division right now after knocking out Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir in his first two UFC fights. UFC president Dana White has hinted that Prochazka will be next in line to fight the winner of UFC 266’s main event between UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, but it has also been suggested that Prochazka could fight once more in the meantime. If that happens, then the logical fight for him would be against Rakic, the man who he just overtook in the rankings.

UFC light heavyweight Aleksandar Rakic believes that former divisional rival Jon Jones should get paid more money to fight Francis Ngannou. Rakic, one of the best fighters in the UFC at 205lbs currently, is coming off of a decision win over Thiago Santos in his last fight, and he is widely expected to be just one or two fights away now from taking on UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. Jones, of course, was the kingpin of the UFC’s 205lbs division for the last decade, but he is planning on moving up to heavyweight this summer. The plan was for him to fight Ngannou in a mega-fight, but Jones is currently involved in a public financial despite with the UFC.

UFC light heavyweight contender Thiago Santos released a statement following his unanimous decision loss to Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 259. Santos and Rakic went three rounds in the pay-per-view opener at UFC 259, with Rakic edging out a unanimous decision at the end of 15 minutes. It wasn’t a great fight, as the former training partners at American Top Team didn’t seem to have any urgency to hurt each other. Although the striking totals pointed to Santos edging Rakic out on the feet in terms of volume, the judges felt Rakic landed the harder shots and he took the decision.
