Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered another catastrophic injury ahead of his planned boxing debut. Former UFC rivals Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva were supposed to clash in a boxing match on December 19th on the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua undercard. But weeks before the event, it was reported that Weidman was forced out of the fight due to injury, and was quickly replaced by former UFC champ Tyron Woodley.

Anderson Silva won’t be renewing a rivalry before the end of 2025, but he will still be facing a fellow ex-UFC champion. Most Valuable Promotions has announced that with Chris Weidman injured, former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley will now be facing “The Spider” in a cruiserweight boxing match on Dec. 19. The bout will be featured on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua.

Chris Weidman had thought of boxing Anderson Silva for quite some time. Weidman and Silva fought twice in the UFC in 2013, with Weidman winning both fights, to become the middleweight champion. The first fight was a massive upset, as Weidman knocked out Silva, and in the rematch, the Brazilian brutally broke his leg.

Most Valuable Promotions has announced that UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva will be taking on Chris Weidman in a six-round boxing match that will have a 205-pound weight limit. This will be the first time Silva and Weidman will collide in a combat sports bout since their infamous Dec. 2013 rematch, which saw “The Spider” suffer a brutal leg break.
