Claressa Shields says she will train with Jon Jones, make MMA debut in 2020

Claressa Shields is looking to make a lot of history in 2020 — in the boxing ring, and in the world of mixed martial arts. Shields has the opportunity to become a three-division world boxing champion and do so faster than any fighter in history when she faces Ivana Habazin on Jan. 10 for the vacant WBC and WBO 154-pound titles. The event will take place at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. and will air on Showtime.

Eddie Hearn wants DAZN to more than double monthly price

The sports streaming service DAZN is now home to Bellator MMA, Combate Americas, and boxing action featuring superstars like Canelo Alvarez and Anthony Joshua. Fans can access all of that combat sports content for $19.99 a month, or $99.99 for an annual membership. Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn would like to see that rate increase — by a lot. Hearn, who promotes Anthony Joshua, has witnessed DAZN’s recent growth, and believes the service is becoming a must-have for fight fans, particularly those that follow boxing.

Evander Holyfield recently sent some encouragement to his former training partner Andy Ruiz Jr. Ruiz famously delivered the first loss of Anthony Joshua’s professional career to become the new unified heavyweight champ early in 2019. He beat the British fighter by technical knockout in the seventh round of their June bout, claiming the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles in the process.

Heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury has confirmed that he will soon be heading to Dublin to train MMA with UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Fury is one of the best heavyweight boxers on the planet but in recent months has teased a future move to mixed martial arts. Fury has been training his MMA skills recently with UFC middleweight star Darren Till. UFC president Dana White has also admitted he’s interested in seeing Fury in the Octagon one day.

Most recently, White announced that he had reached a deal with Floyd Mayweather for the two to work together on Zuffa Boxing, but White would not go into detail as to how that deal would take place. Following the news of their agreement, another boxing legend wants in on Zuffa Boxing. While making an appearance for Sirius XM’s Fight Nation’s Defining Moments of the Decade Show, former heavyweight boxing legend Evander Holyfield revealed he would like to work with Dana White and be a part of Zuffa Boxing.
