Mike Winkeljohn "disappointed" with "goofball" judges that scored Holly Holm-Ketlen Vieira fight: "It's not fair to the fighters"

Cole Shelton - May 24, 2022

Mike Winkeljohn was shocked when he heard Ketlen Vieira being announced as the winner in her UFC Vegas 55 main event fight against Holly Holm. Winkeljohn, a coach of Holm, was confident his pupil had won the fight when the final bell rang. It was a close competitive fight, but Holm had nearly double the significant strikes of Vieira and had almost nine more minutes of control so, for Winkeljohn, he doesn’t know how Vieira got her hand raised.

Josh Evanoff - May 24, 2022

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub has blasted MMA judges following Holly Holm’s defeat to Ketlen Vieira. Last Saturday night, the two women’s bantamweight contenders were the main event of UFC Vegas 55. The bout itself was quite close, however, many believed Holm was winning into the championship rounds. Vieira’s own coach, Andre Pederneiras echoed that sentiment before round five.

Unfortunately for the veteran, she was unable to do so as she fell to a split decision loss with the judges scoring the contest 47-48, 48-47 and 48-47.

Holly Holm explains why she would prefer to have her next fight at bantamweight

Harry Kettle - January 10, 2022

UFC fighter Holly Holm has explained why she’d prefer to fight at bantamweight next instead of featherweight. While she may be seen by many as a veteran in the sport, Holly Holm clearly still feels like she has a lot to prove. She’s won three of her last four fights, has competed for two titles and won one, and was pulled from a featherweight bout as recently as last October due to a knee injury.

Norma Dumont calls for interim featherweight title fight against Holly Holm with win at UFC Vegas 40

Adam D Martin - October 15, 2021

Women’s 145lbs fighter Norma Dumont called for an interim featherweight title fight against Holly Holm with a win at UFC Vegas 40. Dumont fights in the main event this weekend against Aspen Ladd in a rare women’s featherweight bout in the UFC. Originally, Dumont was set to take on the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holm, but after Holm pulled out with an injury, Ladd stepped up a weight class on short notice to take the fight. Given that the women’s featherweight division is by far the most shallow weight class in the UFC, the winner of Dumont vs. Ladd will surely be close to a title shot against the champion, Amanda Nunes.

Report | Aspen Ladd to replace Holly Holm against Norma Dumont at UFC Vegas 40

Adam D Martin - October 7, 2021

Aspen Ladd is set to replace Holly Holm against Norma Dumont in a women’s featherweight headliner at next weekend’s UFC Vegas 40 event. Ladd was supposed to fight Macy Chiasson in a women’s bantamweight bout at UFC Vegas 38 last weekend, but the fight was scratched at the last minute after Ladd missed weight. Chiasson would not take the fight after her opponent missed weight, and the fight was canceled as a result. This is not the first time that Ladd has missed weight, and the expectation was that the UFC would force her up to featherweight for her next fight. Right on cue, Ladd will be moving back up to 145lbs for her next matchup — in just one week.

According to MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, Holm suffered a knee injury that forced her out of her featherweight fight against Dumont at UFC Vegas 40 on October 16. The card had already taken some hits as Miesha Tate vs. Ketlen Vieira was postponed so it’s now uncertain what will headline the card. Holm, however, is hoping to return by the end of the year.

Miesha Tate responds to rematch request from Holly Holm

Adam D Martin - July 18, 2021

Miesha Tate responded to the rematch request from former rival Holly Holm following her win over Marion Reneau at UFC Vegas 31. Tate got back into the win column for the first time in over five years on Saturday night when she defeated Reneau via third-round TKO. For Tate, this was a fantastic win after such a long layoff over a quality opponent in Reneau who was ranked in the top-15 of the UFC women’s bantamweight division. For Tate, the former champion, this is the type of big win she needs in order to start drawing the attention of the other big names in the division, including Holm, who apparently would like the chance to step in the cage with Tate again.
