Colby Covington is going to be getting a belt this weekend as a reward for defeating Jorge Masvidal and it’s going to be BIG. At least that’s according to ‘Chaos’. UFC 272 featured Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal in the welterweight main event on March 5th, 2022 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. It was to be Covington (17-3 MMA) defeating Masvidal (35-16 MMA) by unanimous decision with scores of 49-46, 50-44 and 50-45.

UFC light heavyweight Paul Craig has revealed that Jamahal Hill’s mother sent him a thank you message after their UFC 263 bout. Back at UFC 263 last summer, Paul Craig recorded one of the nastiest submissions in recent memory when he dislocated the elbow of Jamahal Hill and pulled off a tremendous TKO upset win. The victory took his current unbeaten streak up to five and served as the only loss, to date, on the professional record of Hill.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has reacted to reports that Petr Yan’s team have seen their visa requests denied. Next month at UFC 273, Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan will look to finally settle the score in their rivalry when they meet for the UFC bantamweight title. Their encounter will serve as a rematch from their UFC 259 bout which, infamously, ended in a disqualification win for Sterling that saw him capture the belt.

Kevin Holland doesn’t seem to be a fan of Brendan Allen’s comments about a Houston shooting. Earlier this week, the UFC welterweight was at a restaurant in Texas when gunfire erupted. Holland, alongside two other men, quickly subdued the man and halted the active shooting. According to reports, the fighter saw two men struggling when he went up behind the shooter and choked him out. He then stayed at the scene until police arrived.

Marcin Tybura to serve as the backup fighter for UFC London main event between Volkov and Aspinall

Marcin Tybura is on standby as he will serve as the backup fighter for the UFC London main event between Alexander Volkov and Tom Aspinall. After Russia invaded Ukraine, UFC president, Dana White said the UFC London main event was up in the air as he wasn’t sure if Volkov could enter the country. Although Volkov is now in the country, the next hurdle is having him actually fight. Some Russian athletes have been banned from other major sports competitions by other countries.

According to Sports Illustrated, Namjunas and Esparza have agreed to fight one another in the co-main event of UFC 274 on May 7 in Phoenix, Arizona. The event will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje.

Canelo Alvarez’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed he’s open to working with Kamaru Usman and the UFC. The Mexican superstar signed a 3-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing last month for $160 million dollars. The first bout on that deal is a light-heavyweight showdown with Dmitry Bivol, while the second is a trilogy encounter with Gennadiy Golovkin. Over the last few months, Kamaru Usman is gunning to get a bout with Alvarez as well.

Along the way, he racked up a record-breaking 11 title defenses over names such as Henry Cejudo, Joseph Benavidez, and Kyoji Horiguchi. His title reign was eventually broken by the aforementioned ‘Triple C’ at UFC 227.
