Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t think Leon Edwards wants to ever fight him. Edwards became the new welterweight champion at UFC 278 as he scored a fifth-round head kick KO over Kamaru Usman in a massive comeback win. Although it appears Edwards and Usman will have their trilogy match sometime next year, if Chimaev defeats Nate Diaz at UFC 279, he appears to be next in line but he doesn’t expect Edwards to want the fight.

UFC welterweight contender Tony Ferguson isn’t worried about his return to the octagon. ‘El Cucuy’ has been out of action since his fight with Michael Chandler in May. In that outing, Ferguson was brutally knocked out in round two. The loss was his fourth in a row and the first time that the former interim lightweight champion had been put out cold.

In that outing, Rodriguez scored the biggest win of his career to date, defeating the former title challenger by decision. The victory moved the 35-year-old to 6-1 in the UFC octagon.

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards has questioned Kamaru Usman‘s recent comments. ‘Rocky’ faced ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ in the main event of UFC 278 last month. The bout was a rematch of their previous encounter at UFC on Fox 17 in December 2015. In that first meeting, Usman scored a unanimous decision victory.

Diaz is currently a +750 underdog with Chimaev being a -1150 favorite as many are expecting the Swede to ragdoll the Stockton native. However, if Chimaev doesn’t finish Diaz early or beat him, people may not think highly of him which is why the ‘Stockton Slugger’ believes there is a ton of pressure on Chimaev.

Back in September of 2020, Chimaev accosted him at the UFC fighter hotel, getting physical with ‘Trailblazer’ over an Instagram comment about wearing masks. “He only does this extra wannabe street s*** when the media is around,” Holland said during UFC 279 media day interviews. “Other than that, he doesn’t do it. When you guys aren’t around, he wants to do fist bumps and he wants to be your best friend. When you guys are around, he’s like, I’m going to rip your head off!
