UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori reacted following his main event win over Paulo Costa at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 41 event. Vettori was supposed to fight Costa in a middleweight fight that headlined UFC Vegas 41, but the fight was shifted to light heavyweight after Costa showed up heavy to fight week. Despite the weight class switch, the fight turned out to be an absolute battle as both Vettori and Costa stood in the pocket and traded for nearly the full five rounds that the fight was scheduled as. It was overall a very impressive performance by Vettori as he moved up in weight and still defeated a bigger opponent for one of his biggest wins yet.

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori trolled his rival, Paulo Costa, with a Mezzocorona wine celebration following his big win. Vettori won a hard-fought unanimous decision over Costa in the main event of UFC Vegas 41 on Saturday night. The fight was originally intended to take place at 185lbs, but after Costa showed up to fight week heavy and off weight, the promotion had no choice but to shift the fight up to the 205lbs division. It’s possible that since both men didn’t have to cut as much weight that their durability was increased in the fight, which helped it go the full five rounds. Either way, Vettori got the win and Costa got the loss. Even though it was at 205lbs, Vettori still figures to make a move in the middleweight rankings with the win.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for today’s UFC Vegas 41 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Paulo Costa vs. Marvin Vettori. The main event proved to be a thrilling five round war. Marvin Vettori was able to get off the better volume throughout the twenty-five minute affair, but Paulo Costa landed some big shots and made a huge push in the final five minutes. After five rounds of heart-pounding action Vettori was awarded a much-deserved unanimous decision victory from the judges in attendance.

Costa showed up to fight week off weight and the UFC was forced to move the fight up to 205lbs instead. The fight between Vettori and Costa will now take place on Saturday, with Costa being fined 20% of his purse due to the fight having to take place at 205lbs now.

Costa takes on Marvin Vettori in the headliner of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 41 card. Ahead of the event, Costa spoke to the media, and one of the questions he was asked about is his thoughts on the new policy that means UFC fighters will have to be vaccinated to fight in the United States. When asked if he would be getting the COVID-19 vaccine, Costa said that isn’t on the table for him right now. According to Costa, since he already got COVID-19 twice, he believes that right now he doesn’t need to get the vaccine, and therefore, he won’t be able to fight in the United States anytime soon. While Costa admits he might have to eventually get the vaccine, at this current, time, he has no plans of getting it.

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori blasted “crazy” Paulo Costa for drinking a bottle of wine before his Israel Adesanya fight. Costa fought Adesanya for the UFC middleweight title last October at UFC 253 and he suffered a second-round knockout loss for his troubles. Following the fight, Costa revealed that he was hungover in the Octagon after having drunk a bottle of wine the night before the fight. According to Costa, he had problems sleeping so he drank the bottle in order to help him fall asleep. While Costa eventually did fall asleep, being hungover in the fight clearly was not a good idea as he ended up looking listless and suffered a knockout defeat.

In his second bout of 2020 he went toe to toe with long-time foe Paulo Costa and in one of the most dominant displays of the year, he successfully retained his belt against the Brazilian.
