Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has issued a challenge to former Bellator title holder Michael Chandler. Chandler (21-5 MMA) signed with the UFC shortly after scoring a first round knockout victory over Benson Henderson at Bellator 243 this past August. He was immediately booked to serve as the back-up for UFC 254’s Justin Gaethje vs. Khabib Nuramagomedov main event, but thankfully his services were not required that evening in Abu Dhabi.
Khamzat Chimaev continues to call out Israel Adesanya despite being booked against Leon Edwards

Khamzat Chimaev is looking to fight middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya. Ever since Chimaev had an impressive stint on Fight Island where he dominated John Phillips and Rhys McKee at middleweight then welterweight, he had been calling out the champions. He made it clear he would finish both Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya, but it appears more of his attention has gone towards Adesanya.

Rafael dos Anjos has revealed this Saturday’s card was close to being canceled. On Sunday, it was revealed Islam Makhachev was out of the fight with RDA due to injury. Immediately, many fans wondered if the UFC would even hold the event if the promotion couldn’t find a replacement for the Russian. Yet, on Monday, it was revealed Paul Felder stepped up on five days’ notice to headline the card and ultimately save the show.

Bellator president Scott Coker teased a future Bellator 205lbs tournament, saying “it’s the best light heavyweight division on the planet.” Coker and his organization are in the midst of completing the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix, a tournament that was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The promotion previously put on the Heavyweight Grand Prix that saw Ryan Bader win. In the past, Coker held a heavyweight tournament, a women’s bantamweight, and a middleweight tournament in Strikeforce, so we all know Coker loves a good bracket.
Thiago Santos already booked for Octagon return, set to take on Aleksandar Rakic

The Brazilian knockout artist will reportedly take on Austria’s Aleksandar Rakic on March 6. News of this bout was first reported by UFC broadcast partner ESPN, and later confirmed by MMA Junkie.
Israel Adesanya refutes Conor McGregor's claim to UFC record

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has refuted Conor McGregor’s recent claim to a significant UFC record. Thursday was the four-year anniversary of McGregor defeating Eddie Alvarez to capture the UFC lightweight belt and become the first concurrent two-division champion in the promotion’s history. To celebrate the occasion, the Irishman took to Instagram to reminisce about the accomplishment.

On Saturday night, the UFC will return to our screens with the under-the-radar UFC Vegas 14 card out of the promotion’s Apex facility. The card was originally expected to be headlined by a lightweight showdown between Rafael dos Anjos and Islam Makhachev. When Makhachev was forced off the bill with a staph infection, however, No. 7-ranked lightweight contender Paul Felder stepped in to replace him on just five days’ notice. Felder will now meet dos Anjos in a five-round lightweight fight in the card’s main event.
UFC begins roster purge by releasing three fighters including John Phillips

Patricio Pitbull (30-4) is on a five-fight winning streak where he won and defended the featherweight title three times during this run. He also knocked out Michael Chandler in 61 seconds to win the lightweight title to become a champ-champ in Bellator. Pitbull is coming off a decision win over Juan Archuleta to defend his belt in the opening round of the featherweight grand prix.

Pico entered the fight on a two-fight winning streak after submitting Solo Hatley Jr. in July and knocking out Daniel Carey in January. Pico has been considered one of the top prospects in MMA, but lost his pro debut and then suffered back-to-back KO losses to Henry Corrales and Adam Borics.
