Former Cage Warriors star and new UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett explained why he dubbed Khabib Nurmagomedov the “Karen of MMA.” Pimblett had an exceptional UFC debut on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas when he brutally finished Luigi Vendramini with punches in the first round after getting rocked earlier in the round. It was a fantastic victory for the Brit, who earned a $50,000 bonus for his comeback KO victory. Of course, Pimblett is a bit of a controversial figure due to his bold takes and some of the things he’s said about the bigger-name fighters in MMA, including the former UFC lightweight champion Nurmagomedov, who he recently called a “Karen.” Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered Podcast, Pimblett explained those comments.

Manager Ali Abdelaziz revealed his client Derek Brunson was injured and could “barely drive his car” ahead of his UFC fight with Darren Till. Brunson used his wrestling, ground-and-pound, and finally, his submission skills to take out Till in the third round of their UFC Vegas 36 main event on Saturday. Don’t look now, but Brunson is on a five-fight winning streak and is closing in on the top of the UFC middleweight division. However, according to his manager Abdelaziz, there was a chance that Brunson was not even going to be able to make it into the cage against Till.

A number of pro fighters have called for the banning of oblique kicks following Khalil Rountree’s nasty TKO victory at UFC Vegas 36. Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has been deemed out of the Vitor Belfort boxing match, and Evander Holyfield is expected to step in instead. TMZ Sports first reported the news that De La Hoya is out of the Belfort fight, which was scheduled to take place on September 11. Instead, Belfort will fight Holyfield now, although the fight has not been officially sanctioned yet. Either way, De La Hoya is out of the fight and on Friday afternoon he announced to his fans he the reason he is out is due to COVID-19. According to De La Hoya, he is fully vaccinated but still contracted the coronavirus.

The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 36 took place on Friday in Las Vegas, and 19 of the 20 fighters scheduled to compete made weight. In the headliner, both Derek Brunson and Darren Till successfully made weight for their middleweight clash. Both Brunson and Till are top-10 ranked fighters in the UFC middleweight division and the winner of this fight should be close to getting a title shot at 185lbs. Brunson successfully made weight at 186lbs, while Till made weight at 185.5lbs.

Now 36 years old, it has been five years now since dos Anjos lost the UFC lightweight title to Eddie Alvarez. However, after beating Paul Felder in his last fight to cement himself as one of the top-10 lightweights in the world, dos Anjos believes he still has something inside of him to make one more run at the UFC lightweight title, and it all starts with a win over the much-hyped Makhachev at UFC 267 in October.
