In the main event of UFC 271, the middleweight title was up for grabs as Israel Adesanya was looking to defend his belt as he was rematching Robert Whittaker. Adesanya entered the fight coming off a decision win over Marvin Vettori to defend his belt. Whittaker, meanwhile, was on a three-fight winning streak, this since originally losing his belt to Adesanya back in 2019.

In the lead-up to UFC 273, Aljamain Sterling is going all out in an attempt to get into the head of Petr Yan. “Funk Master” is the one holding the belt but given how their first fight was going before Yan’s disqualification, it makes sense for Sterling to do everything in his power to gain an advantage over “No Mercy”.

Khabib played the role of Apollo Creed with “Blessed” portraying the great Ivan Drago.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to judge a UFC fight and that’s probably a good thing. Roxanne Modafferi competed for the final time as a professional MMA fighter at UFC 271. She went toe-to-toe with undefeated prospect Casey O’Neil. The bout went the distance and while Modafferi didn’t make things easy for her opponent, the fight looked to be in O’Neil’s favor.

The Octagon returned to Houston for tonight’s UFC 271 event, an fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Israel Adesanya vs. Robert Whittaker. The highly anticipated middleweight title fight rematch proved to be a hard fought back and forth affair. Israel Adesanya seemingly got the better of Robert Whittaker in the opening ten minutes, even dropping ‘The Reaper’ with a right hand in the opening frame. However, Whittaker would start to turn the tide in round three and then appeared to get the better of ‘Stylebender’ in rounds four and five. After twenty-five minutes of action the bout went to the judges scorecards for decision and Adesanya was awarded the win.
