Rob Font figured he would be fighting Cory Sandhagen. After Font lost to Jose Aldo and Sandhagen lost to Petr Yan, he thought the fight made sense and it was one that interested him. However, Font was offered to headline UFC Vegas 53 against Marlon Vera which did surprise him. Yet, he is eager for the challenge and is excited to headline another card.

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub hopes that Francis Ngannou doesn’t leave the promotion. The UFC heavyweight champion’s contract with the company expires later this year. ‘The Predator’ was last seen in action at UFC 270 in January. His victory over Ciryl Gane was a huge one, as it allowed him to leave the promotion with UFC gold if he chooses.

The UFC heavyweight showdown between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic has been pushed back once again. In August 2020, ‘Bones’ announced he was vacating his light-heavyweight title to move up. While he was expected to fight Francis Ngannou for the UFC heavyweight championship, his debut has been pushed back repeatedly for various reasons.

He retired undefeated and on top but he only had three title defenses, so some think he shouldn’t belong at the top. Yet, for Georges St-Pierre – who many consider the GOAT – he believes Nurmagomedov has earned that top spot due to the fact he retired undefeated and went out on top.

Fabricio Werdum eyes PFL super fight: “Hopefully June 24 or July”

Fabricio Werdum is not done with mixed martial arts after all and is eyeing a PFL super fight this summer. The former UFC heavyweight champion withdrew from the PFL 2022 season earlier this year and claimed he was retired from cage fighting, but not boxing. The Brazilian (24-9 MMA) had suffered a brain injury which had him opt out of the Professional Fighters League.

Over the weekend, one of the biggest combat sports events of the year went down at Wembley Stadium in London, England. A crowd of over 94,000 people were in attendance to see Tyson Fury defend The Ring and WBC heavyweight titles against Dillian Whyte and in the end, ‘The Gypsy King’ made it look easy before securing a sixth-round knockout win over his rival.

While Nate Diaz has always been a fan favourite in mixed martial arts, his profile was really taken to the next level back in 2016 as a result of his two-fight series with Conor McGregor. It was clear from the word go that these two individuals simply didn’t like one another and when they fought, they produced magic in the cage and both took home one victory each.

Canelo Alvarez doesn’t have a ton of interest in boxing Kamaru Usman. Usman and Alvarez are the current top pound-for-pound fighters in MMA and boxing, respectively, so with that, the UFC’s welterweight champ has called out the Mexican to box. He believes it would be a massive fight and one he thinks he can actually win, but Dana White hasn’t shown much interest in making it happen.

Former UFC welterweight title contender Dan Hardy has discussed his return to combat sports. ‘The Outlaw’ was a fan favorite during his run in the UFC from 2008 to 2013. His run in the cage came to an end following his diagnosis of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. However, in 2018, he announced that he was cleared to return to competition.

Conor McGregor appears to be inching closer to a return to the UFC. McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg in the trilogy match against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 last July. Since the injury, he had surgery but has recently been back in the gym as he looks to be nearly fully recovered. With that, he posted to Instagram that the countdown is on for his next fight.

However, it’s not without a price. ‘The Predator’ was last seen in action at UFC 270 in January of this year. Ngannou captured a unanimous decision victory over his former training partner Ciryl Gane, retaining his title. Following the bout, he confirmed that he was unlikely to return to the UFC.

Ben Rothwell has opened up on his departure from the UFC. Rothwell was scheduled to face Alexander Gustafsson on May 21 but was surprisingly released by the promotion just weeks before the fight. Originally there was no word on why he was let go, but now ‘Big Ben’ has revealed that he was the one who asked for the release.
