Teddy Atlas is speaking out about how he believes the pressure got to Max Holloway at UFC 276. Last Saturday, July 2nd, Max Holloway (23-7 MMA) entered the Octagon to compete with Alexander Volkanovski (25-1 MMA) in the co-main featherweight match-up. It was to be the third meeting of the two fighters with the result being a unanimous decision win for Volkanovski, who ultimately retained his title.

The outcome was one neither fighter wanted – a no contest ruling at 3:09 of the second round due to an accidental eye poke.

Jiri Prochazka has given some detail about the verbal altercation between Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler. At UFC 276, a video emerged of Poirier and Chandler yelling at each other and needing to be separated. Given the full conversation can not be heard, it was uncertain how it came together or what they were arguing over. Now, however, Prochazka who was right by the two of them did an interview and talked about how the scuffle came together.

Alexander Volkanovski thought the cut above Max Holloway’s eye should have stopped their fight at UFC 276. Volkanovski landed a big shot to Holloway’s eye that split his eyebrow into two. It was a big cut that was bleeding quite a bit, but the cutman did a very good job which allowed the fight to continue. However, Volkanovski says he saw Holloway’s bone and thinks the fight should’ve been stopped due to the cut.

Former UFC strawweight Felice Herrig is going to continue competing after all. The 37-year-old last competed in a rematch against Karolina Kowalkiewicz last month. The Poland-native moved to 2-0 in her series with Herrig, as she won via second-round submission. The loss was the fourth in a row for ‘Lil Bulldog’, as she hadn’t won a fight since 2017.

Charles Oliveira is willing to forget about Conor McGregor after recent comments from Khabib Nurmagomedov. Oliveira (33-8 MMA) was stripped of his title after missing weight against Justin Gaethje (23-4 MMA) at UFC 274 in May of this year. Oliveira did win the match via rear-naked choke just 3:22 into the first round.

Later this month at UFC 277, Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France will battle it out for the interim flyweight championship with the winner going on to face current champion Deiveson Figueiredo. As it turns out, the champ wasn’t too happy with this decision, to the point where he even threatened to leave the division.
