UFC superstar Conor McGregor has claimed that a return to the Octagon in December is back on the table. For the longest time, it seemed as if Conor McGregor would not be returning to the UFC in 2023. Between the lack of an announcement and the six-month USADA pool rule, it just didn’t feel feasible.

In the main event of the pay-per-view, Sean O’Malley faced longtime bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. ‘Funk Master’ was coming off a win over Henry Cejudo in May, setting a record for title defenses in the division’s history.

Volkanovski was paying close attention to the UFC 292 main event, as Aljamain Sterling had said if he beat Sean O’Malley he was going to call out Volkanovski and fight for the featherweight title. It appeared the featherweight champ was interested in the fight, but Sterling suffered a second-round TKO loss to O’Malley to lose his belt.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya thinks Marc Goddard could have let Sean O’Malley vs. Aljamain Sterling go a bit longer. In the second round of the bantamweight title fight at UFC 292, O’Malley dropped Sterling with a counter right hand and landed some heavy ground-and-pound shots. Although O’Malley did land some clean shots, Sterling was looking like he was trying to scramble but Goddard stepped in and stopped the fight.

Sterling put the UFC Bantamweight Championship at stake inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on August 19. Standing across the Octagon from him was Sean O’Malley. After a very patient opening round, O’Malley found his counter punch within the first minute of the second stanza. O’Malley cracked Sterling with a right hand and sent him to the canvas. O’Malley picked his shots on the ground carefully and the fight was stopped.
