Dan Ige has spoken out following his loss to Bryce Mitchell at UFC Vegas 79. Ige and Mitchell shared the Octagon inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 23. The featherweight clash served as the co-main event for UFC Vegas 79. Ige was attempting to extend his winning streak to three, while Mitchell was hoping to rebound from the first loss of his pro MMA career.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 79 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Rafael Fiziev and Mateusz Gamrot. The highly anticipated lightweight main event did not result in the exciting finish most fans were hoping for. Mateusz Gamrot and Rafael Fiziev went back and forth in the standup in round one, with ‘Ataman’ appearing to land the more significant shots. After getting up from an early takedown in round two, Fiziev threw a kick that connected with the elbow of Gamrot. That strike caused an injury to Fiziev, who immediately hit the canvas in agony. ‘Gamer’ followed up with a couple of shots before the referee eventually stepped in to call a stop to the contest.

Tonight’s UFC Vegas 79 event was headlined by a highly anticipated lightweight contest featuring Rafael Fiziev taking on Mateusz Gamrot. Fiziev (12-3 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since suffering a majority decision loss to Justin Gaethje back in March of this year. Prior to that setback, ‘Ataman’ was on a six-fight win streak, which included stoppage victories over Renato Moicano, Brad Riddell and Rafael dos Anjos.

UFC CEO Dana White has announced two more fights for UFC 296 including the return of Paddy Pimblett. Earlier this week, White announced that UFC 296 would be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington. The co-main event of UFC 296 sees Alexandre Pantoja defending his flyweight title against Brandon Royval. The card already seemed solid, but White announced two more big fights on social media.

Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo will face Robt Font in December. ‘Deus da Guerra’ has been out of action since his fourth fight with Brandon Moreno in January. There, he suffered a third-round stoppage to lose his flyweight gold. Following the defeat, Deiveson Figueiredo announced his plans to head to bantamweight, leading to callouts from Rob Font and others.
