Regrettably, she says she’s often treated very poorly by fight fans on social media. She says she’s received unsolicited, explicit pictures, and more recently, death threats.

UFC Newark Bonuses: No Bonus Issued To Colby Covington

Despite a lopsided decision win over Robbie Lawler at UFC Newark, Colby Covington was now rewarded with a bonus by the UFC. Covington put on a tremendous performance in the main event again Lawler, shutting him out on the scorecards. Yet, he did not receive a bonus despite a record-setting performance. Although Covington did not get a finish in the fight, there have been numerous fighters who have won bonuses despite not finishing their fights. For instance, his rival Kamaru Usman got a bonus when he defeated Rafael dos Anjos via decision in a non-title main event last year. Israel Adesanya also got a bonus for his decision win over Brad Tavares. The UFC chose not to give one to Covington for his dusting of Lawler, and there have already been fans and media who have spoken up about the perceived snub.

Colby Covington earned himself a welterweight title shot after dusting Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC Newark, but he almost didn’t make it to the fight on account of a bad cut. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports that Covington suffered a nasty cut in training three weeks before his fight against Robbie Lawler. The cut was due to an accidental headbutt. According to Helwani, a doctor told Covington he should seriously consider pulling out of the fight because of how close the cut was to his eye.

One of the breakout stars at UFC Newark was Nasrat Harqparast. The 23-year-old German- born fighter knocked out Joaquim Silva in the second round in brutal fashion, winning a Performance of the Night bonus for his handiwork. In his corner for the fight was none other than MMA legend Georges St. Pierre. Haqparast trains at Tristar Gym in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where GSP of course trains. Haqparast was lucky enough that GSP cornered him for this fight, and he said the future UFC Hall of Famer liked what he saw.
