Michael Bisping is not buying that Ben Askren retired from the sport of mixed martial arts due to his need for a hip replacement. The former UFC middleweight champion discussed Askren’s recently announced retirement on his most recent edition of the ‘Believe You Me’ podcast where he insinuated that hip replacement is not career-ending surgery, unless you want it to be.

Former UFC middleweight contender Nate Marquardt is reportedly planning a potential comeback, but this time with Bellator. MMA journalist for theScore James Lynch recently interviewed current UFC middleweight Ian Heinisch, who revealed that he is training with Marquardt as part of his upcoming fight camp for his matchup against Omari Akhmedov at UFC 245. According to Lynch, Heinisch told him that Marquardt is thinking about coming out of retirement and he is interested in signing with Bellator if he indeed makes his return to the cage.

Jedrzejczyk is coming off of a huge win over Michelle Waterson at UFC Tampa that has almost assuredly earned her a title shot at UFC women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang. She recently saw her teammate at American Top Team Jorge Masvidal capture the UFC BMF belt with his third-round TKO win over Nate Diaz at UFC 244. Now Jedrzejczyk says her goal is to be the female BMF.

This Houston card has not yet been made official, but it’s expected to be called UFC 247 — assuming the January 18 card linked to Conor McGregor’s comeback fight is UFC 246. Jones’ opponent is widely believed to be undefeated contender Dominick Reyes, but the bout is not yet official.

Weight classes work a little differently in ONE Championship, where extreme weight-cutting is not allowed. ONE’s welterweight division 185 lbs, not 170 lbs. It’s lightweight division is 170 lbs, not 155. And so on. This occasionally means fighters wind up in the cage with bigger opposition. Sage Northcutt certainly had that problem in his ONE debut. Northcutt made his ONE debut in the welterweight division — 185 pounds. In this debut, he was obliterated by destructive kickboxer Cosmo Alexandre. The loss left him with significant facial damage that required intensive surgery to repair.
