The former UFC light heavyweight champion, Rua (26-11-1 MMA), defeated Nogueira in both of the pairs previous matchups by decision, with their second contest at UFC 190 earning ‘fight of the night‘ honors.

The former multiple-time light heavyweight title challenger, Gustafsson (18-6 MMA), was making his heavyweight debut when he collided with Werdum this evening. An intriguing welterweight matchup between Geoff Neal and Neil Magny has been added to the UFC event scheduled for August 29 in Las Vegas. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report the UFC is working on getting the Neal vs. Magny fight done. The scribe says that contracts are not signed yet, but the UFC intends on booking this fight to take place later this summer. The August 29 card is rumored to take place at the UFC Apex in Vegas and is set to feature a main event between top-five featherweights Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez.

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley believes Gilbert Burns will pose some real problems for the division’s reigning king Kamaru Usman. Burns was originally expected to challenge Usman for the welterweight title at UFC 251 earlier this month, but was pulled from the fight when he tested positive for COVID-19. He was then replaced by Jorge Masvidal, who Usman defeated by decision.

Bellator heavyweight contender Matt Mitrione is set to make his return to the cage when he takes on Timothy Johnson at Bellator 243. Bellator 243 takes place on Friday, August 7, and is headlined by a rematch between top lightweight contenders Michael Chandler and Benson Henderson. The heavyweight matchup featuring Mitrione vs. Johnson is set to be the co-main event for the card. The event takes place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is only interested in title fights and big fights according to American Top Team owner, Dan Lambert. Jedrzejczyk last fought back at UFC 248 in March where she and Weili Zhang put on an all-time great fight. The two traded shots for 25 minutes. Jedrzejczyk was looking to reclaim her title while the Chinese champion was looking for her first title defense.

Gustafsson, who competed three times for the UFC light heavyweight title, will be making his heavyweight debut against the division’s former champion Fabricio Werdum. The bout will be his first back from a short-lived retirement, which followed a submission loss to Anthony Smith in his final light heavyweight fight.

ONE Championship returns to Bangkok, Thailand, with ONE: NO Surrender on Friday, July 31. Headlining the promotion’s return card will be a trilogy bout for the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Petchdam Petchyindee Academy. Prior to joining the organization, the Thai strikers met at the world-famous Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok twice – Petchdam took the first meeting by decision in 2017, and Rodtang evened the score a year later.

The flyweight champion looked incredibly poised as she looked into the distance and posed for the camera.

The former UFC heavyweight champion returned after a USADA suspension at UFC 249 where he dropped a decision to Alexey Oleynik. Although the Brazilian did not have the best showing, he will be making a fairly quick turnaround to battle Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Island 3.

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker provided fans with an update on his headspace ahead of his Fight Island battle against Darren Till. For Whittaker, Saturday’s fight against Till represents his return to the Octagon after a nine-month hiatus after he lost his belt to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 last October. He needed to take a break due to feeling burned out and dealing with mental health struggles, which he has been open about publicly. After taking a much-needed break to deal with his personal issues, Whittaker will now look to get back in the win column against Till.
