A featherweight firefight between two high-level strikers in Edson Barboza and Sodiq Yusuff has been booked for an upcoming UFC event. As previously reported, Barboza was expected to fight on the October 10 UFC Fight Night event set to take place on Fight Island. His opponent was supposed to be Jeremy Stephens, but according to a report from Combate, Stephens did not feel he had enough time to make the 145lbs limit safely. Instead, the UFC has found a new opponent for Barboza, and he will take on Yusuff in what should be a fantastic fight.

The opening betting odds have been released for a potential rematch between UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou. Miocic defeated Daniel Cormier via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 252 to cement his position as the greatest heavyweight in UFC history. Following the event, UFC president Dana White said the plan is to match Miocic up against Ngannou in a rematch for his next fight. The two previously fought at UFC 220 in January 2018, with Miocic winning the first fight against Ngannou via unanimous decision.

Referee Marc Goddard, who was the third man in the Octagon for the UFC 252 heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, has issued a public apology. Mid-way through Miocic and Cormier’s fight, the former landed an inadvertent eye-poke that left the latter with compromised vision. When Cormier complained about sustaining an eye-poke, however, Goddard denied that a foul had been committed.

In main event of Saturday’s UFC 252 card, Cormier stepped into the Octagon for a final time challenging Miocic for the UFC heavyweight crown. In the end, the fight, which marked the pair’s third meeting, went the way of Miocic, who won by unanimous decision. Unfortunately, the bout featured a dosage of controversy, as Miocic landed an inadvertent eye-poke mid-way through the affair that reduced Cormier’s vision and his ability to perform.

Cormier and Miocic threw down for a third time this evening in Las Vegas, this after splitting their first two meeting. In their initial encounter at UFC 226, ‘DC’ was able to put Miocic to sleep in the very first round. However, in the pairs second meeting at UFC 241, it was the Ohio native who scored a finish, stopping Daniel Cormier in the fourth round via TKO.
