UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is willing to give Conor McGregor a rematch if the Irish MMA star gets by Dustin Poirier. Nurmagomedov and McGregor fought in 2018, in the main event of UFC 229, which went down as the most successful pay-per-view in the organization’s history. In that fight Nurmagomedov defended his title against McGregor with a fourth-round submission victory.

The medical suspensions for last Saturday’s UFC 252 card are in, and as expected from a card so jam-packed with violence, some fighters will be out for awhile. Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, who battled for five hard rounds in the UFC 252 main event, will both be out until September 30 at minimum due to potential eye damage sustained in their fight. Cormier could be out much longer if he’s not cleared by an ophthalmologist.

ONE Championship announced recently that Demetrious Johnson, Angela Lee, Brandon Vera, Sage Northcutt, Xiong Jingnan and Ritu Phogat will all appear on the promotion’s special edition of The Apprentice. One athlete is expected to guest star per episode, and will participate in physical challenges that will test athletic ability and cardio endurance.

UFC legend Anderson Silva says a 170lbs matchup against Conor McGregor fell through and he now wants Anthony Pettis at 185lbs instead. Silva and McGregor seemed to have agreed to a catchweight bout on social media a few months ago, but nothing came out it and Silva turned his attention to Pettis instead. Silva and Pettis went back-and-forth on social media a few months ago about a potential matchup between the two future UFC Hall of Famers, but UFC president Dana White quickly shot it down. That hasn’t stopped both men from continuing to display interest in the matchup, with Pettis reaching revealing he has been busy during quarantine watching fight tape on “The Spider” in anticipation of a potential bout between the two strikers.

UFC president Dana White explained why Cody Garbrandt was given the next flyweight title shot against the 125lbs champion Deiveson Figueiredo. Despite never making the cut down to 125 in his UFC career, Garbrandt skipped ahead of the rest of the contenders in the flyweight division to get the next title shot against Figueiredo. The fight is expected to headline UFC 255 on November 21, with a planned co-main event between Valentina Shevchenko and Jennifer Maia for the women’s flyweight belt.

When Marlon Vera defeated undefeated bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley in the UFC 252 co-main event, he not only changed the course of his own MMA career, but made a ballsy bettor very rich. Vera, who entered the fight with O’Malley as a significant underdog, was widely discredited ahead of UFC 252. In the end, however, the Ecuadorian finished picked up a huge TKO victory over O’Malley sustained an injury in the fight’s first round—and a better named Dave Alfa saw it coming.

White was asked about Cormier at the UFC 252 post-fight press conference, and praised him as a fighter than exceeded all of his initial expectations as both a light heavyweight and heavyweight.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has opened up on the death of father Abdulmanap, who passed away earlier this summer due to complications related to COVID-19. Nurmagomedov opened up on this heart-wrenching topic during a recent press conference in Russia. He acknowledged that loss is something many people experience, particularly in the midst in the current pandemic, but added that the loss of his father has been very painful given how close they were.
