Diaz and Masvidal shared the Octagon inside Madison Square Garden in New York City earlier this month. The bout headlined the historic UFC 244 main event. For the first, and likely last time, the BMF championship was on the line. Nick Diaz says BMF belt is truly his but didn't want to get in Nate's way
Cole Shelton - November 12, 2019
Nick Diaz believes he is MMA’s true ‘Baddest Motherf****r’ and should thus hold the title. Although Jorge Masvidal beat Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244 to win the BMF title, Nick doesn’t consider “Gamebred” the real BMF. He says that belt should have been his from the get-go but he didn’t want to get in the way of his younger brother, Nate, pursuing it.

Thomas Taylor - November 11, 2019
During a recent interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Nick Diaz seemingly opened the door to a future fight with Jorge Masvidal. While he also claimed he has no interest in fighting again, he added that he took issue with some of Masvidal’s recent comments to his brother Nate, and hinted that he’d be willing to fight Masvidal inside AT&T Stadium for the right price. “All I see is f*cking dollar signs right now,” Diaz said of Masvidal (via MMA News). “It’s not on me. You wanna talk about baptizing my younger brother, that’s on you. I never had nothing disrespectful to say, but you don’t talk about baptizing my younger brother. So you’re already in a f*cked up position if you fight with me. You don’t f*cking talk about baptizing someone’s younger brother. That’s my baby brother, you don’t talk like that to nobody. So who rides on who’s side?

In particular, the elder Diaz bro took issue with Masvidal claiming he would “baptize” Nate.

Diaz, who came up short after the cage-side doctor deemed him unfit to continue fighting due to a laceration on his brow, was not particularly pleased with the way things unfolded, and even took a shot at The Rock post-fight.

Opinion: BMF title must die, but its brilliant concept should live on in the UFC
Jordy McElroy - November 7, 2019
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz didn’t really solve who the “baddest motherf**ker” on the planet was at UFC 244, but on a historic night built around a fictitious championship, they inexplicably, somehow solved the UFC’s pay-per-view problem. Many were disappointed in the ending of the highly anticipated welterweight showdown at MSG, but Masvidal was clearly ahead on the judges’ scorecards and certainly didn’t seem to be slowing down.

UFC 244 doctor responds to controversial main event stoppage, receiving threats
Mike Heck - November 4, 2019
In the aftermath of the UFC 244 main event, it would seem that you would want to be anyone else besides the doctor who called a stop to Saturday’s BMF Title fight. Dr. Nitin K. Sethi, a New York-based neurologist, was the cage side physician called into the Octagon after the third round of the bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz at Madison Square Garden on Saturday evening. Diaz had suffered a pair of cuts around his right eye, including a highly visible one above the eye. Sethi and Diaz conversed with the fighter saying, as expected, that he was OK. Sethi would then head over to referee Dan Miragliotta and made the decision to stop the fight, which lead to a third-round TKO win for Masvidal.
