Darren Till Skyrockets High Into the Rankings After Taking Out Cowboy Cerrone

Justin Golightly - October 24, 2017

We shouldn’t have been surprised. All through the build-up UFC Gdansk, Darren Till told us what he’d do. He made no mistake showing off his confidence. Now we know that he was fibbing, he showed up in Poland and took out Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. He didn’t just take the win, but he did it with ease. Cerrone isn’t the only thing that Darren Till made short work of, he went from being nowhere near the Ufc welterweight rankings to breaking through into to the top 10. Darren Till rockets from unranked to #8 after #UFCGdansk, consequently pushing #15 Mike Perry out and causing all sort of mix-ups. pic.twitter.com/YFpFTpPWJR

Mike Perry explains why Santiago Ponzinibbio is a redemption story

Tom Taylor - October 22, 2017

This December 16, on the UFC on Fox 26 broadcast, rising welterweight contender “Platinum” Mike Perry will face the toughest test of his career thus far, as he battles Argentinian knockout artist Santiago Ponzinibbio. Though Perry has never encountered Ponzinibbio before, he still considers this fight something of a redemption story. Why? Because Ponzinibbio recently beat Gunnar Nelson, who recently beat Alan Jouban, who is in turn the only man Perry has lost to. Perry explained this feeling in a Facebook live interview over the weekend:

VIDEO | Mike Perry Predicts He'll Treat Ponzinibbio Like He Did Gunnar Nelson

Justin Golightly - October 21, 2017

Mike Perry just cracked into the bottom of the welterweight rankings like he’s been cracking his opponents, now his next fight is against ninth-ranked Santiago Ponzinibbio. The hard-hitting contender will look to catapult himself up into the standings and he’s not lacking confidence. He saw Ponzinibbio take out a big name in Gunnar Nelson and thinks that he can take him out just the same. To Perry, it’s just another one of the many blessings he’s enjoyed so far. “I seen that fight with Gunnar Nelson and it’s just another blessing, man. I guess I love that word, huh? It’s just a true thing that so many good things happen to me. It’s the fight I want. I got a game opponent that steps forward. We all know I come forward. I come to fight. I’m down to take one or two just to land one good one. Santiago [Ponzinibbio] is going to move forward and I’m going to hit him and we’ll see what happens when that happens. It’s kind of redemption for me to beat the guy, who beat the guy, who beat the guy.”

Justin Golightly - October 11, 2017

Mike Perry is a madman. The only thing more reliable than his controversy, is his strong and violent performances in the UFC. He’s quickly become a fan favorite and looks to keep wreaking havoc in the welterweight division. It may surprise you after some of the threats he’s made against his opponents that the dude has a soft side. However, it’s one weakness that a lot of men have: Their girl and their dog. Mike Perry recently showed how him and his girlfriend Danielle Nickerson keep in shape together. I challenge all my home boys to grab their girls , pick them up and spin em around. Build strength and Love 🙏🏼 https://t.co/JI4hTLPyMF

Tom Taylor - October 1, 2017

When UFC welterweight king Tyron Woodley looks over the jam-packed list of welterweight contenders, there’s one fighter on the list who has truly won his respect. That fighter is rising knockout artist “Platinum” Mike Perry. “The only guy that I respect who talks stuff about me is Mike Perry,” Woodley said on the Fight Strength Podcast this week (via MMAUno.com). “Mike Perry pulled up on me, to my face and not only did he pull up on me, he came to a seminar that I was teaching and he took the seminar. Emil Meek and Mike Perry Are Still Trying to Get a Fight at UFC 218

Justin Golightly - September 26, 2017

Mike Perry is coming off two big knockout wins — one in the second and his latest in the first round — and he’s wanting a super quick turnaround. He’s called out Robbie Lawler, but much like boy scouts, MMA fighters always need to be prepared in ever situation. Meanwhile, Emil Meek hasn’t lost since 2015 and he’s wants to oblige Perry’s wishes by meeting him in battle in Detroit. They’ve let the public know that they’re both into the idea on Twitter, just in case you thought they were just playing around, they’re back at it doubling down on the potential scrap. You can add 'Wonderboy' to the long list of fighters in Mike Perry's crosshairs

Tom Taylor - September 24, 2017

“Platinum” Mike Perry is one of the fastest rising contenders in the UFC welterweight division. Since joining the UFC fold in August of 2016, he has knocked out Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, and most recently, Alex Reyes. Though these knockout wins were interspersed by a decision loss to Alan Jouban, they have still been enough to elevate Perry to the number-15 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings. And now that he’s in the top-15, he’s putting all of his peers on notice. One of the latest fighters to find himself in Perry’s crosshairs is two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who battles Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 on November 4.

Mike Perry goes off on Colby Covington, has plans to fight him soon

Tom Taylor - September 24, 2017

“Platinum” Mike Perry and Colby “Chaos” Covington are two of the brightest young contenders in the UFC welterweight division – and they really don’t seem to like each other. Over the last few months, the pair have exchanged plenty of heat in interviews and on social media. On the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio, the trend continued, as Perry spat some fire at Covington, assuring that if Covington gets by Demian Maia on October 28, he’d like to fight him as soon as possible thereafter.

Mike Perry was very inspired by his most recent KO victim, Alex Reyes

Tom Taylor - September 21, 2017

Last weekend, in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 116, rising welterweight slugger “Platinum” Mike Perry authored yet another brutal knockout, this time putting down Alex Reyes with a rocket-fuelled knee against the cage. Reyes, of course, was not supposed to be Perry’s opponent. Perry was originally expected to battle former UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves on the card. It was only when Alves was forced out of this anticipated booking that Reyes got the call and agreed to step in against Perry on mere days’ notice.

"Platinum" Mike Perry has found a willing opponent, and is eyeing a very quick turnaround

Tom Taylor - September 20, 2017

Last weekend, in the co-main event of the UFC’s anticipated stop in Pittsburgh, PA, rapidly rising welterweight “Platinum” Mike Perry returned to the Octagon. Originally, the welterweight star was expected to battle former UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves. Unfortunately, however, Alves was forced out of the competition thanks to Hurricane Irma’s effects on Florida. He was replaced by promotional newcomer Alex Reyes.

Mike Perry sets his sights on a former champion, but Thiago Alves has other plans

Tom Taylor - September 17, 2017

If things had gone according to the initial plan, rising welterweight knockout artist “Platinum” Mike Perry would have battled former UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves in the co-main event of the UFC’s exciting stop in Pittsburgh last night. Regrettably, Alves opted to sit this fight out, worrying for his family in Florida as the threat of Hurricane Irma loomed. With Alves out, the UFC quickly found a replacement opponent for Perry in Alex Reyes. While Reyes deserves props for taking this dangerous fight on such short notice, the fight itself did not go well for him, as he became the latest victim in Mike Perry’s knockout filled highlight reel.

Alex Reyes Looks to 'Expose' Mike Perry in his Second Chance at a UFC Debut

Justin Golightly - September 16, 2017

When Thiago Alves had to pull out of his fight with Mike Perry at UFC Pittsburgh, Perry didn’t bat an eye at the change of an opponent. Even though it was only three-days notice, Alex Reyes didn’t either. The former King of the Cage lightweight champion jumped at his chance to get into the UFC just like anyone would, but he wasn’t always this lucky. Last October, Reyes was supposed to step in to face Josh Burkman at UFC Fight Night 96 but had to turn the fight down because of an injury himself. Not only is tonight a redemption for Alex Reyes, but a chance to make a serious statement.  “It was heartbreaking at that time. You hope and pray that you get called up someday, you work your whole career, you work hard and you get that call, but you can’t [accept it] because of injury. It was tough, man. It was a tough injury. And I came back from it and I knew that if I ever got that call again, there was going to be no hesitation. Sh-t man, when I got that first call, I wanted to accept it anyway. That’s why it was so heartbreaking, because I wanted to say yes but my body couldn’t. It wasn’t even saying no, it just couldn’t. So as soon as I got that call [this week[, man, I was like, ‘Let’s go. I’m ready. No hesitation. I belong here.’”
