Alexander Volkanovski plans to go at Max Holloway early and often. In the co-main event of UFC 276, Volkanovski and Holloway are set for their trilogy match. Although Volkanovski has won both of the previous fights, the second win was a split decision so they will be running it back for the third time.

UFC featherweight Max Holloway doesn’t believe himself or Alexander Volkanovski is the greatest featherweight ever. ‘Blessed’ is set to collide with ‘The Great’ this Saturday at UFC 276 in Las Vegas. It’ll be the third time they’ve clashed, as they had two prior fights in 2019 and 2020. Both bouts were won by Volkanovski by decision, in razor-thin contests considered some of the best of the year.

Back in April 2018, UFC fans were treated to one of the most chaotic fight weeks in the promotion’s history. Khabib Nurmagomedov was scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson, only for a bizarre injury to force “El Cucuy” out of the contest. Then, Max Holloway stepped in to take the UFC lightweight title bout on short notice, but he wasn’t given clearance to compete by doctors.

UFC featherweight Max Holloway has been forced to pull out of his UFC 272 trilogy showdown with Alexander Volkanovski. ESPN is reporting that Holloway, who accepted the fight just a matter of days ago, aggravated an old injury on Thursday and will therefore be unable to compete on the March 5 card in Las Vegas. As of this writing, no official statement has been made by the UFC regarding a potential replacement or whether the fight will be rescheduled for a later date.

In what was an all-out war between two of the best featherweights in the sport, the fight went the full 25 minutes and both men left every bit of themselves inside of the Octagon. It was truly an incredible fight, and both men have shown an incredible amount of respect to each other following it. First, we had Holloway take to his social media to praise Rodriguez for their battle, and now we have Rodriguez coming out and saying nice things about Holloway.

With that, the featherweight champion in Volkanovski wonders how long his chin will last as he thinks the Hawaiian’s durability is already going.
