Sterling was in attendance on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, to see Aldo defeat Font in the headliner of UFC Vegas 44. For Aldo, it was his third straight win following previous victories over Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz. Despite being 35 years old, somehow Aldo appears to actually be getting better in his MMA career, and his run at 135lbs as of late has been impressive. Sterling, especially, can admit he was impressed.

UFC bantamweight contender Jose Aldo called out former champion TJ Dillashaw following his UFC Vegas 44 win over Rob Font. Aldo defeated Font via unanimous decision in what was a great fight that served as the UFC Vegas 44 main event. Although Font outstruck Aldo in terms of significant strikes, Aldo dropped Font twice and he also had more control on the ground. In the end, the judges saw the fight unanimously for Aldo with 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46 scorecards. It was the biggest win of Aldo’s UFC bantamweight career thus far as he improved to 3-2 overall in the weight class. After losing fights to Marlon Moraes and Petr Yan to open up his 135lbs run, Aldo is now on a three-fight win streak over Font, Pedro Munhoz, and Marlon Vera.

The fight could potentially earn the winner a title shot at the UFC bantamweight belt sometime in 2022, but the timing might be an issue. The problem is, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is currently injured, and when he does come back, he needs to unify his belt against interim champ Petr Yan first. In the meantime, former champion TJ Dillashaw is also out there and also hoping to get a title shot sometime in 2022. It is a complicated situation right now, but Aldo isn’t sweating it as he is open to taking another fight.

The fight is not official as contracts have not been signed, but contracts will be issued soon, the report says.

Former UFC featherweight champion and current bantamweight title contender Jose Aldo welcomed new challengers, saying to them “Let’s fight!” Aldo last fought at UFC 265 in August when he won a unanimous decision over fellow Brazilian Pedro Munhoz. It was Aldo’s second straight win at 135lbs following a decision nod over Marlon Vera last year. Following the win over Munhoz, Aldo used his post-fight interview as an opportunity to call out former bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw. However, it appears as if Dillashaw is banged up and likely won’t be able to fight before the end of the year. If it’s Aldo’s goal to step back into the cage before 2021 is up, then he will likely have to fight someone else instead, and that’s why he is now welcoming new challengers.
