Jiri Prochazka reveals the UFC wanted his and Glover Teixeira’s rematch to take place in Brazil. Teixeira hails from Brazil and the promotion was returning to the country for the first time since 2020 in January for UFC 283. With that, the hope was the UFC would have Teixeira’s potential final fight in his home country.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has been getting to know his local USADA representative pretty well this year. According to a report from TSN reporter Aaron Bronsteter, Prochazka has been tested by USADA a shocking 24 times in the past month. That brings his 2022 test total to 51, which makes him the most tested athlete in the UFC this year by a long shot. Kamaru Usman and Manuel Kape are tied for second place with just 15 tests apiece.

It was Prochazka vs Teixeira (33-8 MMA) in the light heavyweight battle, and with Teixeira only 28 seconds away from retaining his UFC crown, he tapped to the rear-naked choke that Jiri Prochazka applied in their main event bout. Many are calling it the ‘fight of the year’.

Prochazka and Teixeira had a back-and-forth war as both men had moments in the fight and they both nearly finished the fight. Late in the fifth round, Prochazka was able to get ahold of Teixeira’s back and eventually got the submission win with 28 seconds left to become the new champ.

Following UFC 275, there have been major changes in the UFC rankings this week. Jiri Prochazka (29-3 MMA) has made his debut on the UFC P4P rankings list, coming in at # 11. This of course follows his victory over Glover Teixeira (33-8 MMA) last Saturday night in Kallang, Singapore. It was in round five, with only 28 seconds left on the clock that Prochazka finished Teixeira via rear-naked choke, becoming the Czech Republic’s first ever UFC champion.
