Ignacio Bahamondes urges Jalin Turner to reconsider retirement following UFC 313 fight

Ignacio Bahamondes feels gutted following Jalin Turner’s retirement announcement. Bahamondes shared the Octagon with Turner on the main card of UFC 313 this past Saturday. Turner was trapped in a triangle choke and he tapped out in the opening frame. After the fight, Turner told media members at Octagon side that he has decided to retire. He told John Morgan that he first considered retirement when he was stopped by Renato Moicano at UFC 300.

UFC lightweight contender Jalin Turner has explained why he believes he walked away from a potential finish of Renato Moicano at UFC 300. Turner fell to Moicano in a wild UFC 300 clash last month in front of a packed house at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was a back-and-forth battle for as long as the fight lasted before Moicano rallied in Round 2 to finish Turner by TKO.

UFC CEO Dana White has something about say about referee Kerry Hatley following the Jalin Turner vs. Bobby Green bout in Austin, Texas on December 2. The ending to the Turner vs. Green fight was brutal, and Hatley, the official inside the ring, has come under fire for his late stoppage. Turner was on top of Green raining down strikes and it was clear that Hatley’s time to step in was due. Instead, Hatley waited until Green was put to sleep, perhaps multiple times, to stop the fight. It wasn’t a pretty sight and White is in total agreement with those who have criticized the referee.

Jalin Turner says he didn’t have much of a choice but to accept the short-notice fight against Bobby Green at UFC Austin. Green was originally supposed to fight Dan Hooker in a five-round co-main event. But, less than two weeks before the fight, it was revealed Hooker suffered an arm injury and was forced out of the bout. Then, on nine days’ notice, it was revealed that Jalin Turner stepped up on short notice and the fight will remain at 155lbs.
