Boxing legend Teddy Atlas has made a pretty interesting observation regarding the UFC 290 battle between Dan Hooker and Jalin Turner. Last weekend, Dan Hooker and Jalin Turner went to war. They put on a show for the ages in a moment that all of us watching will never forget. In the end, even with a broken arm and orbital bone, Hooker was able to edge out the split decision win.

Hooker (22-12 MMA) will be competing for the first time since scoring a TKO victory over Claudio Puelles at last year’s UFC 281 event. Turner was supposed to take on Dan Hooker but about a month out, the Kiwi was forced to withdraw from the scrap due to a broken hand. After Hooker was forced out, Turner thought he was going to have to fight someone unranked and was surprised when seventh-ranked Mateusz Gamrot stepped up on short notice.

Dan Hooker will not be fighting at UFC 285. Hooker was set to return on March 4 in Las Vegas at UFC 285 against Jalin Turner in a very fan-friendly scrap. However, on Wednesday, MMAFighting reported that Hooker has suffered a broken hand and is out of his fight. The hope is to keep Turner on the card and have a replacement opponent found.

Hooker announced to The Mac Life on Tuesday that he is set to return at UFC 285 on March 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada against Jalin Turner. Sure enough, the UFC booked the fight as the two will meet on Saturday at UFC 276.
