Brendan Schaub believes UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik should move down. ‘Bigi Boy’ was in action last Saturday night at UFC Vegas 56 against Alexander Volkov. Rozenstruik was TKO’d just minutes into the first round against the Russian. However, he would later protest the stoppage on social media.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 56, a heavyweight bout headlined the card as Alexander Volkov took on Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Volkov was looking to rebound from a submission loss to Tom Aspinall in the main event of UFC London back in March. The former Bellator champ had been inconsistent as of late, going just 4-4 in his last eight and was looking to remain a contender in the heavyweight division. Rozenstruik, meanwhile, was coming off a decision loss to Curtis Blaydes his last time out.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik has commented on his TKO loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 56. “Bigi Boy” and Volkov shared the Octagon inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas this past Saturday (June 4). The fight ended in the first round via TKO but some felt the stoppage from Herb Dean was too early.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 56 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Alexander Volkov vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik. As many fans and analysts predicted, tonight’s UFC Vegas 56 main event did not make it out of the first round. Alexander Volkov was able to find success with his kicks in the early moments of the contest, this before ultimately putting Jairzinho Rozenstruik down with a flurry of punches. Referee Herb Dean quickly jumped in to wave off the fight and there was no dispute of any early stoppage coming from the corner of Rozenstruik.

With Francis Ngannou on the shelf due to injury, and possibly leaving the UFC, the promotion has settled on making an interim championship. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic seem to be the leading contenders for the interim bout.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik is glad to finally make the walk to the Octagon. Rozenstruik was supposed to face Marcin Tybura at UFC Columbus but the fight was ultimately moved to UFC 273 on April 9. However, after weighing in, Tybura fell ill and the fight was canceled again. After that, the promotion quickly booked him to face Alexander Volkov in a main event slot which Rozenstruik is happy about.

A heavyweight collision for this summer between Alexander Volkov and Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been set. The two title hopefuls will headline UFC Fight Night 207 on June 4th. The news was first broken by ESPN MMA‘s Brett Okamoto. The June 4th event currently has a lot of other matchups already set for the card. Some of the more notable bouts set for the card feature a bantamweight showdown between Dan Ige and Movsar Evloev, and a women’s flyweight fight between Erin Blanchfield and J.J. Aldrich.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik wasn’t surprised he was booked to fight Marcin Tybura. Rozenstruik headlined a card last year against Augusto Sakai who he knocked out in brutal fashion. That same night, Marcin Tybura TKO’d Walt Harris in the evening’s co-main attraction. After the event, Tybura called for the Rozenstruik fight to happen next but instead they both got different opponents. An important heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been added to this fall’s UFC 266 pay-per-view card. MMAFighting.com first reported that Blaydes vs. Rozenstruik will take place at UFC 266, which takes place on September 25 at a location that has yet to be determined. The main event for the card is scheduled to be UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz vs. Glover Teixeira for 205lbs gold. Also expected to take place on the card is a matchup between UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega.
