Nick Diaz arrived at T-Mobile Arena this evening to discover he was sharing a locker room with former opponent Georges St-Pierre. Diaz (26-9 MMA) and St-Pierre (26-2 MMA) collided for the UFC welterweight title back at UFC 158 in March of 2013, with ‘GSP’ ultimately outpointing the Stockton native on route to a unanimous decision victory.

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre says that he should have retired following his win over Nick Diaz in 2013. St-Pierre fought Diaz at UFC 158 in March 2013 in his hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and he won a unanimous decision with a dominant showing that night at Bell Centre. St-Pierre then returned to the Octagon at UFC 167 later that year, where he won a controversial split decision over Johny Hendricks to defend his belt. However, soon after defeating Hendricks, GSP walked away from MMA, though he later returned in 2017 as a middleweight when he defeated Michael Bisping at UFC 217 to claim the 185lbs strap.

When asked if McGregor should go after the fourth fight with Poirier if and when he returns to the Octagon next year, GSP suggested that it would be a bad idea and that Diaz is a better choice for him.

Paul meets Woodley on August 28 in a professional boxing match that figures to be one of the biggest combat sports events of the summer. Paul has won all three of his pro boxing matches so far and is coming off of a TKO win over former UFC fighter Ben Askren in his last outing. As for Woodley, he lost four straight fights in the UFC which led to his release, but he is the former UFC welterweight champion and a big name in the sport. It’s an intriguing matchup and you can count St-Pierre among those who will be watching it.

However, with GSP retired and with Nurmagomedov recently hanging up his gloves, the possibility of a dream matchup between them seems very unlikely at this point. UFC president Dana White is apparently still holding out hope for a fight, but with both fighters retired, it seems like a pipe dream.

The original plan was for Jones to fight Ngannou for the heavyweight belt, but when Jones asked for a number too rich for the UFC, the promotion decided to give the title shot to Derrick Lewis instead. St-Pierre is retired from MMA but he has stayed in incredible shape. Having just turned 40 years old, it really seems like GSP is in the best shape of his life right now, which is incredible to consider since he was one of the poster boys for fit MMA fighters for years. Taking to his social media this week, GSP posted a photo of himself after cutting out the processed food from his diet. You can see the difference as “Rush” looks completely ripped.

Georges St-Pierre has revealed what the rules would’ve been had he boxed Oscar De La Hoya. After De La Hoya talked about a return he said he wanted to box the best and it was revealed he was set to box St-Piere. However, the UFC and Dana White blocked that from happening which the former welterweight and middleweight champion said was his dream fight. Had the fight happened, however, the rules would’ve been much different as they would’ve boxed two-minute rounds with bigger gloves among other rules.
