UFC 252, scheduled for August 15 at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, is starting to look like the kind of card that shouldn’t be missed. UFC 252 will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between the division’s reigning champion Stipe Miocic and it’s former ruler Daniel Cormier.

Dana White was not joking when he said that August of 2020 would showcase an “insane” amount of fights including UFC 252: ‘Miocic vs. Cormier 3’. On Wednesday afternoon, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) approved a total of nine dates for the Ultimate Fighting Championship to host events for the month of August.

Daniel Cormier has responded to allegations that he intentionally poked Stipe Miocic in the eye in their first two contests. Cormier and Miocic have fought twice previously. They first met in 2018 when Cormier, then the light heavyweight champion, moved up to heavyweight division to challenge Miocic for the division’s ultimate prize. Cormier won that first contest by first-round knockout. After Cormier defended the heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis later that year, he and Miocic then rematched in 2019. That time around, Miocic evened the scored, weathering some early adversity to stop Cormier in the fourth round and reclaim the heavyweight title.

UFC heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier is training at a home gym, and not AKA (American Kickboxing Academy), for his trilogy fight against Stipe Miocic. On August 15, Cormier will make the final walk to the Octagon of his future UFC Hall of Fame career when he meets his rival Miocic for the third and final time at UFC 252 at the UC Apex in Las Vegas. Cormier and Miocic have fought against each other the last two summers, with Cormier knocking Miocic out at UFC 226 in July 2018 to win the belt, and then Miocic finishing Cormier at UFC 241 in August 2019 to take back his title.

Daniel Cormier says he intends to emulate the gameplan Curtis Blaydes used against Alexander Volkov when he rematches Stipe Miocic on August 15. Blaydes took on Volkov in the main event of UFC on ESPN 11 last weekend, winning a clear-cut unanimous decision with a gameplan based on relentless takedowns and top control.

Just after UFC “champ-champ” Amanda Nunes turned in a stellar performance against Felicia Spencer, McGregor hopped on Twitter to claim he is retiring from MMA competition. Some feel that the timing of McGregor’s announcement took away from Nunes’ dominant women’s featherweight title defense. Cormier is in that camp.

It was announced on Tuesday that Miocic and Cormier will meet for the third time at UFC 252 which is scheduled to take place on August 15 although a location and venue have not been announced yet.

He lost the fight by TKO in the fourth round and subsequently lost his heavyweight crown.
