The Octagon is back in town and tonight’s card is a UFC Fight Night event live from Jacksonville, Florida. The card features 10 fights, with the main event featuring top-10 light heavyweights Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira going head-to-head for 25 minutes or less. Smith is coming off of a huge submission win over Alexander Gustafsson, with the fight taking place last June. He was set to take on Teixeira at UFC Nebraska in April, but the card was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately, the UFC matchmakers were able to save the matchup and it takes place tonight instead.

Smith and Jones, of course, met last March at UFC 235, with Jones once again defending the UFC light heavyweight championship with a unanimous decision win. The two have remained mostly cordial since that fight on social media and in interviews. But when Smith recently told the story of having his home invaded by an alleged drug-fueled former wrestler in the middle of the night, Jones used it to take a shot at Smith.

The story of Smith having his house broken into in the middle of the night by a screaming stranger later confirmed to be Haberman went viral this past week. Smith admitted that he was terrified of the intruder and scared for his family, but ultimately he was able to control and subdue the intruder after a life-and-death struggle.

According to Smith, he woke up at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning when his wife heard a stranger in his Omaha-area home. ‘Lionheart’ claims he got into a life-and-death struggle with the man and had to fight him tooth-and-nail for five minutes before the police arrived on the scene.

Following his fight against Jones, Smith would defeat two-time title challenger Alexander Gustafsson by fourth-round submission. After taking some time away due to surgeries, Smith is scheduled to return and face Glover Teixiera on April 25 which is supposed to take place in Lincoln, Nebraska but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the location and venue are up in the air as of now.
