UFC’s middleweight king Israel Adesanya has given his thoughts on Anderson Silva’s retirement fight against Uriah Hall. Adesanya, who successfully defended his UFC Middleweight Championship for the second time last month against Paulo Costa, had his opportunity to fight the legend that is Anderson Silva back in February 2019. “The Last Stylebender” came out on top courtesy of a decisive unanimous decision victory in Melbourne, Australia.

Silva will go down as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, but he is no longer the consensus GOAT. After starting his UFC career with 16 straight wins — which is still a company record to this day — Silva has gone 1-6, 1 NC as he’s struggled in the limelight of his career to get his hand raised. Since defeating Stephan Bonner in 2012, Silva’s only win is a controversial decision over Derek Brunson, with a No Contest against Nick Diaz.

Anderson Silva confirms Uriah Hall fight will be his last

UFC legend Anderson Silva confirmed that his upcoming middleweight fight on Halloween against Uriah Hall will be his last. Silva is the oldest fighter on the UFC roster at 45 years of age and he has really struggled in the latter stages of his legendary career, losing two straight bouts to Jared Cannonier, Israel Adesanya, and four of his last five overall. UFC president Dana White recently said that Silva would call it quits after the Hall fight on Halloween, but until now we haven’t had confirmation from “The Spider” himself about his retirement plans.

Silva and Adesanya fought in the main event of UFC 234, with Adesanya winning a unanimous decision in a three-round bout that won “Fight of the Night.” The win over Silva earned Adesanya an interim middleweight title fight against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236, while Silva went onto fight Jared Cannonier at UFC 237, losing via TKO due to leg injury.

UFC president Dana White said this week that Silva’s fight against Hall would be the final fight of his career and Silva has now confirmed that. Speaking to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Silva admitted that the Hall fight will likely be the end of his career.

That hasn’t stopped both men from continuing to display interest in the matchup, with Pettis reaching revealing he has been busy during quarantine watching fight tape on “The Spider” in anticipation of a potential bout between the two strikers.

UFC legend Anderson Silva sent a video to former rival Chael Sonnen where he once again expressed how serious he is about a superfight with Conor McGregor. Silva shocked the MMA community recently when he called McGregor out for a catchweight superfight. Considering McGregor has fought the majority of his career at 145lbs and 155lbs and Silva has fought mainly at 185lbs and as high as 205lbs, most fans raised an eyebrow when they saw the callout. But Silva said he wanted to fight at a catchweight at 176lbs, which he believes is marketable, and McGregor has been fighting recently at 170lbs. So perhaps the callout isn’t as crazy as it seemed at first glance.
