Adam Martin - May 9, 2021

UFC welterweight Alex Morono praised “BMF” Donald Cerrone after knocking him out for the biggest win of his career to date at UFC Vegas 26. Morono scored the first-round knockout after blitzing “Cowboy” early and putting him away with strikes in the opening round. It was a fantastic showing from “The Great White” as he picked up the best name on his resume to date. For Morono, to come in on short notice and defeat a legend like Cerrone is one heck of a win. Following the fight, he took to his social media to comment on the outcome of the bout. Check out what Morono wrote below.

Alex Morono eyes third-round KO of Donald Cerrone, says a win will be "bittersweet" for him: "I'm ready to throw down"

Cole Shelton - May 5, 2021

Alex Morono was staying ready for a short-notice opportunity and he got his wish this week. When Donald Cerrone and Diego Sanchez were booked to fight one another on May 8, Morono called his coach, Sayif Saud, to tell the UFC he will be ready in case either of them pull out. Then, late last week, it was revealed Sanchez was out of the fight and Morono got the call asking if he was still open to filing in and he jumped at the chance to fight a legend in “Cowboy.”

Alex Morono reacts after landing Donald Cerrone fight at UFC Vegas 26

Adam D Martin - May 4, 2021

UFC welterweight Alex Morono reacted to the news that he will be taking on Donald Cerrone at this weekend’s UFC Vegas 26 event. Cerrone was expected to take on fellow Octagon veteran Diego Sanchez this Saturday night at UFC Vegas 26, but the fight fell apart when Sanchez got into a medical disagreement with the UFC and was released from his contract. The UFC has spent the last week looking for a replacement opponent to keep Cerrone on the card, with a number of fighters offering to fill in on short notice. In the end, the matchmakers decided that the right man for the job is Morono, who will step in on just six days’ notice to fight Cerrone this Saturday night.
