Carlos Ulberg believes he could secure a lightweight title shot with a win over Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Macau. Ulberg is a riding contender at light heavyweight and is ranked 10th. However, he’s set to fight the eighth-ranked contender and a former title contender in Oezdemir in a pivotal light heavyweight bout. It’s the biggest step-up in competition that Ulberg has faced and he knows a win will do him wonders.

As we know, he once challenged for the UFC light heavyweight championship, falling short against Daniel Cormier. Alas, following that result, he dusted himself off and got back to work. Most recently, he viciously knocked out Johnny Walker to continue building some momentum in the division.

Johnny Walker has issued a statement following his knockout defeat against Volkan Oezdemir last weekend. At UFC Saudi Arabia, Johnny Walker went head to head with Volkan Oezdemir. His hope was to get back on the winning trail in the light heavyweight division, but unfortunately, that didn’t pan out for him. Instead, he was beaten by Oezdemir, who managed to finish him in the very first round.

Today’s UFC Saudi Arabia main card was kicked off by a light heavyweight bout between Johnny Walker and Volkan Oezdemir. Walker (21-9 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since suffering a knockout loss to Magomed Ankalaev this past January. That setback had snapped a three-fight winning streak for the Brazilian, who had previously scored victories over Ion Cutelaba, Paul Craig and Anthony Smith.

It was with the first punch he landed the fight that Volkan broke his hand which hindered his performance. Following the fight, he needed to get surgery as he had been dealing with a nagging hand injury for a while.

UFC light heavyweight contender Volkan Oezdemir reacted after suffering a nasty gash in a decision loss to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 267. Oezdemir and Ankalaev met in the first fight on the UFC 267 main card. The fight was expected to provide fireworks between two of the hardest-hitting knockout artists in the UFC light heavyweight division, but it instead proved to be a tepid kickboxing affair. In the end, it was Ankalaev who won the unanimous decision, in no small part to the damage he inflicted on Oezdemir. After dropping his opponent in the first round, he later cut his eyelid open in the second. Fortunately for Oezdemir, he was able to continue fighting until the third round and make it to the distance, but he still suffered his second straight defeat.

Oezdemir and Krylov were slated to co-headline the upcoming UFC event Fight Island. However, due to a knee injury, ‘No Time‘ was forced to withdraw from the contest.
