Following the first main card fight of UFC 297, Jon Anik spoke to the crowd and those watching at home to introduce a video package revealing Edgar’s induction. It was a big moment for Gutierrez and he delivered as he got a first-round KO. However, he says it was a bittersweet moment as it was hard to see a legend like Edgar end his career that way.

He had success early on but in the third round, he suffered a KO loss. After the defeat, Edgar took some time off and this summer, he realized he wanted to fight one more time and wanted it at MSG.

MMA analyst Chael Sonnen reacted after former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar suffered a KO loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 268. Edgar fought Vera on the main card of last Saturday’s UFC 268 pay-per-view event. The first round saw Edgar control Vera with his wrestling and take it, while the second round saw Edgar do some more work with his grappling before Vera came back to steal it late. Two of the judges had the fight 1-1 and another had it 2-0 for Edgar heading into the third and final round, but the judges were taken out of the equation when Vera connected on a brutal front kick and knocked Edgar out late in the third stanza.

UFC bantamweight contender Frankie Edgar believes that the referee stopped his fight too early against Marlon Vera at UFC 268. Edgar suffered a brutal third-round knockout loss when Vera connected on a brutal front kick to the jaw that sat Edgar down to the mat. However, when speaking on the Champ and The Tramp podcast, Edgar admitted that he feels referee Todd Anderson stopped the fight too early. As far as Edgar goes, he was still in the fight, and when he looks at some of the other fights at UFC 268 that weren’t stopped, he was unhappy the referee did so.
