Canelo (54-1-2) will be making a quick turnaround, this after fighting and defeating Callum Smith in a super middleweight bout this past December. Prior to defeating Smith by unanimous decision in San Antonio, Canelo Alvarez was coming off an eleventh round knockout victory over Sergey Kovalev.

Former UFC welterweight contender Ben Askren is promising a humiliating loss for YouTube star Jake Paul in their upcoming boxing match. Askren, who went 1-2 in the UFC welterweight division and is also the former ONE and Bellator welterweight champ, is slated to battle Paul for a maximum of eight rounds on April 17.

Heavyweight boxer Andy Ruiz has undergone a dramatic physical transformation since he last stepped foot in the ring with Anthony Joshua. Ruiz’s last two fights both pitted him against the heavyweight boxing superstar Joshua. Ruiz won the first fight via TKO in one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history. However, Joshua then evened the score in the pair’s immediate rematch, picking up a comprehensive decision victory.

It’s a very intriguing matchup and one that has caught the attention of the combat sports world. Although the fight has been announced for a few weeks now, the location was still uncertain, but it has now been reported it will take place in Atlanta.

Poirier, like Pacquiao, is a southpaw and the Irishman thought their styles were similar. However, the fight did not go McGregor’s way and it is now likely he will have the trilogy with Poirier.

Former UFC fighter Markus Perez detailed a recent sparring session he had with Jake Paul ahead of his upcoming boxing match with Ben Asken. Perez was recently among the latest round of UFC roster cuts. Following his recent loss to Dalcha Lungiambula on Fight Island in January, Perez asked the UFC matchmakers to cut him and let him go back down to the minor leagues to work on his game. With a 2-5 record in the UFC and a three-fight losing skid to end his run in the Octagon, the matchmakers decided to release “Maluko” from the roster. But while he might not be on the UFC roster anymore, Perez has already landed a gig as a sparring partner for Paul. McGregor, who was making his pro boxing debut, performed surprisingly well in the fight’s early rounds, but was ultimately stopped by a volley of 10th-round punches.

Paul and Askren are slated to collide in an eight-round pro boxing match on April 17. Ahead of the fight, Paul enlisted the help of Manfio to help him prepare for Askren, who went 1-2 in the UFC and is the former ONE and Bellator welterweight champion.

UFC president Dana White admitted to being a “degenerate” gambler and recalled losing a $1-million bet on a boxing match nearly 15 years ago. White recently spoke to ESPN Sports Betting about the role that gambling plays in the modern sports world. In White’s view, the legalization of gambling across more states and in more countries is only a good thing for MMA, since betting on sports can generate more fan interest. The UFC bossman admitted in the interview that he keeps his eye on the betting lines for the UFC events himself and also said that he’s glad ESPN started showing live betting lines on the broadcast. For White, the more gambling on UFC fights, the better.
