Deontay Wilder responds to critics following win over Luis Ortiz

Mike Pendleton - November 28, 2019

Reigning WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is among the best in the boxing world — even MMA stars like Jon Jones and Rampage Jackson have taken notice of his incredible punching power — but the “Bronze Bomber” still has critics. Following his win over Luis Ortiz, the talk wasn’t just about how Wilder has some of the best punching power the boxing world has ever seen, but the criticism was that he didn’t look technical in the fight, and if he fought that way against Tyson Fury, Wilder would lose.

Deontay Wilder: 'I am the hardest-hitting puncher in boxing history, period'

Adam Martin - November 27, 2019

Heavyweight boxing sensation Deontay Wilder says he is the hardest-hitting puncher in the history of boxing and it’s not even close. Wilder recently picked up a huge KO victory over Luis Ortiz to improve his professional boxing record to 42-0-1 with 41 of those victories by way of knockout. The only fights in his 11-year professional boxing career that went the distance were his split draw against Tyson Fury in 2018 and his unanimous decision win over Bermane Stiverne in 2015.

Deontay Wilder takes aim at Tyson Fury: ‘I'm going to end this man once and for all’

Mike Pendleton - November 27, 2019

Following his 7th-round knockout victory over Luis Ortiz this past weekend, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has shifted all focus to a former opponent of his, Tyson Fury. Fury and Wilder first met in late 2018. It appeared Fury would beat Wilder until the “Bronze Bomber” landed a huge punch to knock Fury down late in the 12th round. Yet in somewhat of a controversy, Fury was able to answer the referee’s count. The fight would end up going to a split draw, a result that many disagreed with.

Fury outboxed Wilder for the majority of the fight but Wilder landed a brutal late knockdown that nearly stole it for him. Instead, Fury rose from the dead and was able to edge out a draw in one of 2018’s best fights.

Junior dos Santos wants to fight Deontay Wilder: 'I can see many holes in his game'

Tom Taylor - June 27, 2019

If Junior dos Santos defeats Francis Ngannou at UFC Minneapolis this weekend, he hopes it’ll earn him a heavyweight title shot — though he doesn’t intend to wait for that opportunity. If he does re-capture heavyweight gold, dos Santos then plans to challenge one of the top boxing champions in the world — something he attempted to do during his first reign as UFC champion. “Back when I was the champion in 2012, I challenged Wladimir Klitschko, he was the champion at that time, and I said I would beat Wladimir Klitschko in a boxing match but of course I’m not a good promoter like Conor McGregor and he got the fight against [Floyd] Mayweather,” Junior dos Santos told MMA Fighting this week. “Klitschko actually replied to me, he said anytime, anywhere, something like that. But then I lost my belt, I lost the fight to Velasquez and I lost the belt so it didn’t make much sense anymore to promote that fight.
