It appears Deontay Wilder is ready to talk business to fight Oleksandr Usyk, but he won’t take just any offer.

Usyk recently stunned the boxing world when he announced he decided to vacate his heavyweight boxing titles. Usyk confirmed that he is not retiring, but he simply wanted more freedom with his fight bookings as opposed to going through mandatory challengers.

Since the announcement, Wilder’s name has been rumored as a potential opponent for the now former champion. During an interview with Sky Sports, “The Bronze Bomber’s” co-manager Shelly Finkel discussed his fighter possibly facing Usyk next.

“If the terms were right, Deontay would welcome the opportunity to fight Usyk,” Finkel said. “Usyk is a great champion and it would be an honor to fight him.”

Sky Sports spoke to Wilder in the past, and the former WBC titleholder was onboard with standing across the ring from the Ukrainian star.

“He’s one of the best in the era. I do need him to accomplish what I need to accomplish,” Wilder said. “It can happen and it will happen. As long as I have the confidence to do what I have to do, it will happen. I must accomplish what I set forth in the beginning of my career.”

Usyk is a perfect 25-0 as a pro boxer. He’s coming off a dicey showing against kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven. While Usyk scored the controversial 11th-round TKO finish, the 39-year-old struggled far more than experts expected him to.

Wilder’s most recent bout took place back in April. He defeated Derek Chisora via split decision in “War’s” final fight as a pro boxer. “The Bronze Bomber” has gone 2-0 since suffering a brutal TKO loss to Zhilei Zhang back in 2024.
