Belal Muhammad revealed he was supposed to headline UFC London against Khamzat Chimaev. After Muhammad beat Stephen Thompson by decision in December he began to call out Chimaev. He was vocal about wanting to get that fight and shortly after, his manager, Ali Abdelaziz called him to say he would be headling UFC London on March 19 against Chimaev.

The bout will be another defense of his featherweight crown, one that he took from Max Holloway back in 2019. He then scored another victory over ‘Blessed’ in 2020 at UFC 251.

Stephen Thompson is hoping to run things back with Jorge Masvidal next time out. Both Thompson and Masvidal are on two and three-fight losing streaks, respectively. In those fights, ‘Wonderboy’ was outwrestled by Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad, while Masvidal lost twice to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and was then outwrestled by Colby Covington his last time out. With that, Thompson is hoping the Masvidal rematch happens as he wants to face a striker next time out.

It has been reported that Kevin Holland subdued a gunman at a restaurant shooting in the Highland Park neighborhood of Houston. Holland, 29, competes in the welterweight division of the UFC. ‘Trailblazer’ last fought at UFC 272 on March 5th where he defeated Alex Oliveira (22-12 MMA) with a TKO win in round 2.

Henry Cejudo has said he’d be open to training Khamzat Chimaev for a fight against Israel Adesanya, but not Kamaru Usman. In his post-retirement career, Henry Cejudo has been busy splitting his time between hosting podcasts and training some of his fellow UFC fighters. The former two-weight champion may still return to the Octagon one day but for the time being, he seems to be pretty satisfied with where he’s at.

UFC COO Lawrence Epstein has a few reasons as to why there have been more complaints about fighter pay. Recently, fighters like Francis Ngannou have spoken out about UFC fighter pay. ‘The Predator’ has made it very clear that he is unhappy with his current contract. Ngannou was not the only fighter to talk about pay, as many of his colleagues have since claimed the UFC only pays 16% of revenue to fighters, which according to Epstein is not true. Instead, the UFC COO has suggested three reasons as to why people think fighters are underpaid.

It was on Saturday, March 5th where Colby Covington (17-3 MMA) defeated Jorge Masvidal (35-16 MMA) in the welterweight main event in Las Vegas. It was to be a mostly one-sided victory for Covington.

Ankalaev entered the fight as the sixth-ranked light heavyweight and was on a seven-fight win streak with wins over Volkan Oezdemir, Nikita Krylov, and Ion Cutelaba among others. Thiago Santos, meanwhile, returned to the win column in his last time out as he beat Johnny Walker by decision to snap his three-fight skid.
