Anthony Smith said he wanted to be a bigger Donald Cerrone and he feels like he’s showing that. Smith is set to rematch Ryan Spann in the co-main event of UFC Singapore on Saturday. The two fought back in September of 2021 with Smith winning by first-round submission. Since then, Smith has lost back-to-back fights to Magomed Anklaaev and Johnny Walker.

UFC light-heavyweight contender Ryan Spann doesn’t really know much about Nikita Krylov. However, he doesn’t really care. ‘Superman’ has been out of the octagon since his clash with Dominick Reyes at UFC 281. In the light-heavyweight showcase last November, Spann picked up the biggest win of his career thus far. Less than two minutes into the first round, he scored a devastating knockout victory over ‘The Devastator’.

Ryan Spann is set to headline UFC Vegas 70 against Nikita Krylov on Saturday but that was not always the plan. According to Spann, after he knocked out Dominick Reyes at UFC 281 in November, he was offered to fight Jan Blachowicz. However, when Jiri Prochazka got hurt and vacated the belt, the UFC was forced to make some big changes to the division, which included Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev for the vacant belt.

Ryan Spann, meanwhile, was coming off a first-round KO over Misha Cirkunov after a loss to Johnny Walker which had some controversy to it.

UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith says he has squashed his beef with Ryan Spann following their recent fight at UFC Vegas 37. Smith finished Spann in the first round of their main event fight by submission after knocking his opponent down twice prior to choking him out. It was an incredible performance by Smith, who was fighting with a lot of emotion in the cage on Saturday night. Heading into this fight, Spann had some negative things to say about Smith, and “Lionheart” was not thrilled with that. At the end of the day, however, Smith got the last laugh when he entered the Octagon and took care of business with his rival Spann.

The light heavyweight main event proved to be a wild and short lived affair. Anthony Smith and Devin Clark both landed big shots in the early moments of the fight, but it was a right hand from ‘Lionheart’ that sent ‘Superman’ crashing to the canvas. From there, Smith would eventually lockup a rear-naked choke which forced Spann to tapout.
