Andre Fili says he will be looking for “big-money, title-contention fights” with a win over Bryce Mitchell at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 12. Fili takes on Mitchell in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 12 card. For Fili, this fight represents a chance for him to get back into the top-15 by taking out the undefeated Mitchell, who is 13-0. Both men come into the fight on a roll, with Fili winning three of his last four fights and Mitchell going a perfect 4-0 in the UFC. The UFC booked the fight as the co-main event for a reason.

Bellator president Scott Coker suggested that a rematch between Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima and Michael Page could be next. Lima lost a unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi in the main event of Thursday’s Bellator 250 event in a failed bid to become a two-division champion. Despite the loss to Mousasi, Lima remains the promotion’s welterweight champion. As such, he will be returning to his regular weight class for his next fight. Just who that is going to be against remains the question.
Gerald Meerschaert willing to do “whatever it takes” to get a rematch with Khamzat Chimaev

UFC middleweight Gerald Meerschaert says he will do “whatever it takes” in order to secure a rematch with top prospect Khamzat Chimaev. Meerschart met Chimaev in early September in Las Vegas in the third fight of the young Swede’s UFC career. The promotion’s matchmakers wanted to give Chimaev a step up against a veteran and Meerschaert answered the call. However, the middleweight wasn’t happy that the UFC also booked Chimaev against Demian Maia, calling the move “disrespectful.” Not long after the comments, the Maia fight ended up falling through.
Greg Hardy makes weight for UFC Vegas 12 bout against Maurice Greene after initial scare

UFC heavyweight contender Greg Hardy made weight for his UFC Vegas 12 bout against Maurice Greene on Saturday night after an initial scare. At Friday’s official weigh-ins, Hardy first stepped onto the scale at 266.5lbs, a half-pound over the heavyweight non-title limit of 266lbs. Hardy was then given one more hour to make weight (Via ESPN’s Brett Okamoto). If Hardy didn’t make the weight, he would have become the first heavyweight in UFC history to miss weight (Via Sherdog’s Jay Pettry).

The weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 12 took place on Friday and headliners Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall both made weight for the main event. In what could be the final fight of the legendary MMA career of Silva, he takes on Hall in a dream fight between two strikers. This is a fight the UFC has tried to book in the past but now at age 45 for Silva and age 36 for Hall, they finally meet in the Octagon. Silva is coming off of an 18-month layoff following a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier in his last fight while Hall hasn’t fought since last September, though he has won his last two fights.

MMA trainer Firas Zahabi says his pupil at Tristar Gym Georges St-Pierre and UFC great Khabib Nurmagomedov “deserve their retirement.” Zahabi has been St-Pierre’s trainer for years at Tristar in Montreal and the coach has spoken openly in the past about a potential superfight between GSP and Nurmagomedov. However, in the wake of Nurmagomedov retiring following his submission win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, it appears that any possibility of a fight between these two legends has disappeared, at least for the time being. Zahabi agrees with that sentiment.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor is teasing a return to the Octagon at 155lbs, sharing with fans the phrase “lightweight division incoming.” McGregor is set to take on rival Dustin Poirier in a rematch at UFC 257, which is scheduled to take place on January 23 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The coach of McGregor, John Kavanagh, recently suggested that the rematch would take place at 170lbs. However, with former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov recently announcing his retirement from the sport, it changes things when it comes to weight.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw appears to be in phenomenal shape ahead of his upcoming reinstatement into the Octagon in 2021. A former two-time UFC bantamweight champion, Dillashaw hasn’t fought since January 2019 when he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Henry Cejudo. Following the fight, he failed his post-fight drug test and was suspended for two years by USADA after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Dillashaw is now set to return to the Octagon in January 2021 and he is expected to get a top-15 opponent in his first fight back.

The win marked the second time that Mousasi had held the title with his first reign coming to an end at the hands of Rafael Lovato Jr.

Speaking to the media ahead of his final UFC fight, MMA legend Anderson Silva says he has “no regrets” about his past PED suspensions. The 45-year-old Silva is generally regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all time but one argument that is used against him is his previous sanctions for performance-enhancing drugs. In 2015, Silva defeated Nick Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 183 but the fight was overturned to a No Contest after Silva tested positive for steroids by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. He was also fined and suspended for one year.

In the middle of December of 2018, Strickland was driving back from King MMA on his motorcycle when he was involved in a serious accident. The crash was not his fault, but he went unconscious and did not wake up until hours later. He also needed surgery and when he woke up, doctors told him his fighting career was likely over.

Bellator president Scott Coker explained why Bellator made 30 roster cuts including veterans such as Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, and Joe Warren. It was reported earlier this week that Bellator cut a number of fighters from its roster. Many of the fighters who were released were veterans coming to the end of the like such as Mir, Nelson, and Warren, but there were also a number of younger fighters on the list such as Ricky Bandejas, Chris Lencioni, and AJ Agazarm that surprised fans.

Poland’s Jan Blachowicz, the new UFC light heavyweight champion has big plans for his first title defense. On Thursday, Blachowicz took to Twitter to call for a title defense opposite undefeated UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, naming March as his preferred timeframe for this super fight.
