Pederneiras has been coaching Aldo for years at Nova Uniao in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the two have gone on several championships runs over the years in both the UFC and the WEC. On Saturday night at UFC Vegas 44, Aldo punched his ticket to a No. 1 contender fight at 135lbs as he smashed Font in a lopsided unanimous decision victory. It was an incredible victory by Aldo, who once again showed that Father Time stops for him. At age 35, Aldo continues to add to his legacy, and with Pederneiras in his corner every time, too.

UFC women’s strawweight contender Cheyanne Vlismas celebrated in Las Vegas following her “Fight of the Night” victory at UFC Vegas 44. Vlismas lost her UFC debut earlier this year to Montserrat Ruiz, but she has since bounced back in a big way. In her last fight, Vlismas (then known as Cheyanne Buys) knocked out Gloria de Paula with a head kick to win $50,000 for “Performance of the Night.” Against Martin at UFC Vegas 44, Vlismas put on a show for the fans as she put on a striking clinic. In what was mostly a standup fight between the two women, the UFC decided that it was the best fight of the evening and awarded both women $50,000 each for “Fight of the Night.” More importantly, however, Vlismas has now improved to 2-1 overall in the UFC.

Sterling was in attendance on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, to see Aldo defeat Font in the headliner of UFC Vegas 44. For Aldo, it was his third straight win following previous victories over Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz. Despite being 35 years old, somehow Aldo appears to actually be getting better in his MMA career, and his run at 135lbs as of late has been impressive. Sterling, especially, can admit he was impressed.

UFC lightweight contender Brad Riddell reacted following his nasty TKO loss via spinning wheel kick to Rafael Fiziev at UFC Vegas 44. Riddell was knocked out in the third round with a spinning wheel kick by Fiziev in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 44 card. For Riddell, it was his first loss in the Octagon after winning his first four fights in the promotion. To make matters worse, he suffered the first knockout loss of his MMA career, to boot. The only thing that takes the sting away is that he at least lost to someone who he considers to be very close friends in Fiziev.

UFC bantamweight contender Jose Aldo called out former champion TJ Dillashaw following his UFC Vegas 44 win over Rob Font. Aldo defeated Font via unanimous decision in what was a great fight that served as the UFC Vegas 44 main event. Although Font outstruck Aldo in terms of significant strikes, Aldo dropped Font twice and he also had more control on the ground. In the end, the judges saw the fight unanimously for Aldo with 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46 scorecards. It was the biggest win of Aldo’s UFC bantamweight career thus far as he improved to 3-2 overall in the weight class. After losing fights to Marlon Moraes and Petr Yan to open up his 135lbs run, Aldo is now on a three-fight win streak over Font, Pedro Munhoz, and Marlon Vera.
