Derrick Lewis set to return in July against Sergei Pavlovich

Derrick Lewis will be looking to get back into the win column this July. According to ESPN, Lewis is set to return on July 30 against Sergei Pavlovich. The event does not have a location but Madison Square Garden has been floated out there for the card which is expected to serve as UFC 277.

Tristan Connelly was pumped when he got the contract to fight Darren Elkins at UFC Vegas 53. Connelly says he was offered to fight Elkins last year but ‘The Damage’ wasn’t ready so the Canadian fought Pat Sabatini at UFC 261 and lost by decision. After the fight, Connelly suffered an injury that kept him out for a year but he will now return against Elkins which he is pleased about.

Paul Daley has received a new opponent for his retirement fight at Bellator 281 after Andrey Koreshkov was forced to pull out. Daley, 39, is set to make his final walk to the cage next month on May 13 in London. The veteran is coming off the back of a defeat to Jason Jackson last June but prior to that, he was riding a nice three-fight win streak with his aim being to secure one last victory before riding off into the sunset.

Andre Muniz avoided serious injuries in a fatal bus crash in Brazil. In the early hours of Sunday morning, Muniz was traveling on a bus between the Minas Gerais city of Montes Claros-MG and Rio de Janeiro when the bus collided with a car. According to the Brazilian outlet G1, the car was driven by a 45-year-old man who allegedly drifted into the opposing lane. The passenger, a 50-year-old woman was killed on the scene, the report says.

Two fighters have been removed from the UFC’s active roster following UFC Vegas 52. The Twitter account UFC Roster Watch was the first to report the fighters being moved from the active roster. UFC bantamweight Miles Johns and women’s flyweight Sabina Mazo were reportedly removed from the promotion’s website.

After Fury knocked out Dillian Whyte he brought Francis Ngannou into the ring as both men have shown interest in making a fight happen. There’s no question it would be a spectacle and for Arum – who is the promoter of Fury – he thinks it would be bigger than Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor.

Rob Font figured he would be fighting Cory Sandhagen. After Font lost to Jose Aldo and Sandhagen lost to Petr Yan, he thought the fight made sense and it was one that interested him.
