After Godinez beat Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 287 she said she wanted a bit of time off to go to Mexico and train with Alexa Grasso and Irene Aldana. Yet, she was offered a short-notice fight against Emily Ducote at UFC Vegas 73 which she accepted as she liked the style matchup.

A.J. McKee and Patricky Pitbull will headline the second Bellator vs. RIZIN event later this year. In December, the two promotions had their first cross-promoted event. While Bellator and RIZIN have long held a talent partnership, their fighters didn’t face off until late last year. In the initial event, the Scott Coker-led company had a clean sweep, going 5-0 against their counterparts in Japan.

Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling knows the UFC wants Sean O’Malley to win in August. ‘The Funk Master’ is fresh off his return in the main event of UFC 288 earlier this month. In the main event, Sterling scored a split-decision victory over ‘Triple C’. Following the win, he had a face-off with Sean O’Malley in the center of the octagon.

UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad is ready to play the bad guy. ‘Remember The Name’ is fresh off his five-round clash against Gilbert Burns at UFC 288 earlier this month. In the short-notice co-main event, Muhammad scored a lopsided unanimous decision win over ‘Durinho’. In the process, he extended his undefeated streak to 10.

Justin Gaethje thought the BMF belt was stupid when the UFC first introduced it for Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz. After Diaz beat Anthony Pettis he called out Masvidal so he could defend his ‘Baddest Mother F****r’ belt which the UFC ended up actually making. However, it was considered a one-off and after Mavidal won, the belt was never defended.

Henry Cejudo thinks Conor McGregor would have an easier time beating Leon Edwards than he would Michael Chandler. McGregor is set to coach TUF 31 opposite Chandler with the two set to fight later this year, likely at welterweight. With the fight expected to take place at 170lbs, many have thought that if the Irishman wins, he could get a little shot against Leon Edwards as he looks to become the first person in UFC history to win titles in three weight classes.

Aljamain Sterling’s coach believes the UFC is showing ‘favoritism’ to lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Sterling, (23-3 MMA), is the current UFC bantamweight champion. ‘Funk Master’ last defeated Henry Cejudo (16-3 MMA) by split decision at UFC 288 earlier this month. The 33 year old Sterling is now scheduled to defend his title a second time against Sean O’Malley (16-1 MMA) in August of this year at UFC 292.

Bellator Featherweight Champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire believes media members have been ignoring what he has accomplished. Not only is Freire the reigning three-time Bellator champion at 145 pounds, but he’s also the promotion’s former lightweight champion. If he makes weight and defeats Sergio Pettis at Bellator 297, he’ll become the new Bellator Bantamweight Champion, making him a rare three-division MMA champion.

UFC mega star Conor McGregor says there are no issues between himself and the UFC after he appeared on a BKFC show. McGregor was in attendance for BKFC 41 back in April. The event was held inside the 1stBank Center in Denver, Colorado. The “Notorious” one was in the crowd chugging his Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey before getting into the ring for a fun staredown with Mike Perry.

UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards admits that he wishes he got a chance to fight Jorge Masvidal. There was bad blood between “Rocky” and “Gamebred.” Back in March 2019 after a UFC London event, Edwards and Masvidal crossed paths. Masvidal was in the midst of an interview when the two exchanged words. Masvidal approached Edwards and punched him in the face.

Oli Thompson handed Aleksei Oleinik a brutal first-round knockout loss. Thompson and Oleinik shared the cage in a REN TV Fight Club headliner. The action emanated from the Dynamo Volleyball Arena in Moscow, Russia. This one didn’t last long. In the opening frame, Thompson’s left hand shut the lights off Oleinik.

Adesanya and Kreischer were hanging out in a New Zealand bar when the comedian made it clear that he has a new bodyguard. Adesanya jokingly challenged patrons to a fist fight, much to the amusement of those who were in the bar.

Former UFC fighter Sam Alvey had a successful heavyweight debut. Alvey was in action at B2 Fighting Series 183 on May 27. He went one-on-one with Cam Graham. Alvey scored the TKO finish in the third round. The victory snapped a brutal skid. He was 0-8-1 in his last nine fights before the win.

UFC welterweight contenders Vicente Luque and Rafael dos Anjos have booked their returns. ‘The Silent Assassin’ has been out of the octagon since a clash against Geoff Neal last August. In that co-main event outing between ranked contenders, the Brazilian was dominated. Neal wound up scoring a third-round knockout over Luque, handing him his second straight loss. The Brazilian had previously lost to Belal Muhammad that April, kickstarting his losing streak.

Henry Cejudo has confirmed UFC President Dana White’s claim. The UFC has booked a bantamweight title fight between 135-pound titleholder Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley. The bout is set to take place on August 19. As of late, Sterling and the UFC have been at odds. It stems from how the booking was handled, given that Sterling is coming off a five-round title fight against Cejudo. He still feels banged up.
