Nate Diaz says Dustin Poirier 'pu**ied' out of their bout

Fernando Quiles Jr. - August 13, 2019

As far as Nate Diaz is concerned, he holds a victory over Dustin Poirier. The stage was set for a lightweight showdown between Diaz and Poirier at UFC 230. The bout was scheduled to take place back in Nov. 2018. Poirier was forced off the card due to an injury. “The Diamond” questioned whether or not the bout would’ve even taken place had the injury never occurred as he implied that Diaz was being difficult during negotiations.

Quentin Tarantino defends portrayal of Bruce Lee amid backlash from martial arts community

Tom Taylor - August 13, 2019

Bruce Lee is pretty much deified inside the martial arts world. So, when he was portrayed as an arrogant simpleton in the new Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, martial arts fans were not exactly happy. Lee’s daughter Shannon protested his portrayal in the film.

Michael Bisping scoffs at 'aspiring woman-beater' Henry Cejudo

Natasha Hooper - August 13, 2019

Henry Cejudo recently made headlines after calling out Valentina Shevchenko to fight him in a potential ‘inter-gender’ bout. The ‘champ champ’ is seemingly envious of Shevchenko’s time in the spotlight since her win at UFC Uruguay over Liz Carmouche. He says wants to put their title reigns to the test and fight “The Bullet” gold. The following is a public service announcement for the supposed flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko. Signed, Triple C and soon to be The IGC. #bendtheknee @BulletValentina pic.twitter.com/kUQbCnmIWd

Heading into the scrap, Romero is a -155 favorite while Costa is a +125 underdog.

Daniel Cormier calls Stipe Miocic a 'brat' for sitting out so long

Tom Taylor - August 13, 2019

At UFC 241, reigning UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will defend his title against the former champ Stipe Miocic. The bout will be a rematch of a July 2018 fight, which Cormier won by first-round knockout. Since that first fight, Cormier has fought once, defeating Derrick Lewis by submission in a successful title defense. Miocic, meanwhile, has not fought since. Instead, he’s been adamant that his accomplishments as the former champion warrant an immediate rematch with Cormier.

Jon Jones blasts fan over drug testing comments

Natasha Hooper - August 13, 2019

UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones did not take it well when a fan referenced his previous drug-testing woes. “Never happened to GSP, the real GOAT,” a fan wrote to Jones on Twitter. “Know why I won’t fail a drug test? Because there aren’t drugs in my system. I know that’s crazy talk.”

Darren Till updates on potential move to middleweight

Tom Taylor - August 13, 2019

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has always endured a difficult cut the division’s weight limit. While he has hit that limit many times, it’s clearly taken a toll on many occasions, and he has failed to do so on several others. Given the difficultly Till has had hitting the welterweight limit, he’s long discussed a potential move up to the 185-pound middleweight division, where the cut might be less taxing.

Daniel Cormier responds after Jon Jones guarantees there will be no trilogy

Mike Heck - August 12, 2019

On Monday afternoon, Jon Jones took to Twitter to discuss a potential trilogy fight with Daniel Cormier in the midst of the heavyweight champion’s upcoming title defense at UFC 241. Jones “guaranteed” a third fight wouldn’t happen, and, as expected, Cormier had something to say about it. The UFC light heavyweight champion said, essentially, that the only way the fight would happen is if it took place at 205-pounds because Jones has expressed no interest in making the move to heavyweight. “Bones” stated that Cormier wouldn’t want to put his body through another difficult weight cut, meaning a trilogy fight would not take place in the future.

Nate Diaz says that 'spoiled' Conor McGregor got handed everything in UFC

Cole Shelton - August 12, 2019

Conor McGregor is one of the biggest sports stars in the world, yet rival Nate Diaz says he was handed everything in the UFC. After fighting Diaz twice, McGregor then got a lightweight title shot and became the first-ever champ-champ. If that wasn’t enough, the Irishman then got a boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather and then returned to another title fight. Diaz, on the other hand, says he was offered lower-ranked opponents, thus showing that the Irishman is handed everything.

Jon Jones guarantees there will be no third fight with Daniel Cormier

Mike Heck - August 12, 2019

If you are looking forward to a trilogy fight between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, the UFC light heavyweight champion seems to have crushed those hopes. As Cormier prepares to defend his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC 241 event, a lot has been made about the future of “DC” and questioning whether or not the rematch in Anaheim will be the last time he graces the Octagon. Of course, when it comes to Jones, Cormier can’t help but get a little excited — although recently, the heavyweight champion stated that a third fight with his rival would be up to him to make it a reality.

Bellator champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane claims Valentina Shevchenko is '100%' beatable

Mike Heck - August 12, 2019

While many believe that current UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko may be unbeatable at this point, Bellator women’s 125-pound champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane begs to differ. Shevchenko successfully defended her title against Liz Carmouche over the weekend in the main event of UFC Uruguay via unanimous decision in a fight that was never in question.

Miesha Tate says Cris Cyborg was 'humanized' during UFC run

Fernando Quiles Jr. - August 12, 2019

Miesha Tate looks back on Cris Cyborg’s UFC run as the time the unstoppable force met her match. Cyborg had long been regarded as the most dominant female in mixed martial arts history. She pummeled Gina Carano back in Aug. 2009 to leave no doubt as to who the Strikeforce queen was. While she never got a chance to face Ronda Rousey, Cyborg’s dominance lasted longer than Rousey’s. This of course includes Cyborg’s battles outside the UFC, as Rousey had a longer title reign within the world’s most recognized MMA promotion.

Adam Martin - August 12, 2019

Welterweight Mike Perry’s broken nose was arguably not the most gruesome injury suffered at UFC Uruguay. In a flyweight bout on the preliminary card, Rogerio Bontorin delivered a horrible cut to the face of Raulian Paiva, leading to the doctor to stop the fight in the first round. Paiva was obviously upset the fight was stopped, but the doctor made a good call considering how deep the cut was. The cut was in a very vulnerable spot right above his right eye, which would obviously hinder his ability to fight. The day after the fight, the UFC flyweight contender took to social media to thank the doctors for fixing his cut.

Daniel Cormier on future after UFC 241: 'It needs to be something big'

Mike Heck - August 12, 2019

Daniel Cormier is days away from defending his UFC heavyweight championship against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 241. While ‘DC’ is taking things one fight at a time, the rematch against Miocic could very well be the final fight of his storied mixed martial arts career. Cormier has built an incredible legacy throughout his career and will look to knock off the man with the longest heavyweight championship reign in UFC history for a second time on Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif. If Cormier is successful, he certainly isn’t slamming the door on his career. If the right opportunity comes along, Cormier will be open to keeping his in-the-Octagon career going — although it won’t be for just any fight.
