According to UFC President Dana White, the UFC Fight Pass library could soon grow by one extremely strange, but undeniably brutal pseudo-sport: professional slapping. This sport is so strange it gives X-Arm a run for it’s money.

Former Bellator middleweight champion and UFC welterweight contender Hector Lombard recently signed with upstart bare knuckle fighting promotion BKFC. On Friday morning, Jose Aldo stepped onto the scale and successfully hit the 136-pound limit for his UFC 245 fight with Marlon Moraes. In doing so, Aldo silenced his hordes of doubters, all of whom worried he could safely hit 136 — or even hit it at all.

Last weekend, Combate Americas promoted its first pay-per-view event. The event was topped by a 210-pound catchweight fight between former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and pro wrestling veteran Alberto Del Rio. On Friday morning, the promotion sent out a press release outlining how this card faired in terms of viewership.

Conor McGregor is headed back to the Octagon in the main event of UFC 246 on January 18. The Irish superstar will meet fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in a welterweight bout. While this fight with Cerrone will not be a cakewalk, fans are already looking ahead to what might be next for McGregor if he wins.

UFC 245 takes place on Saturday December 14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. On the main card, Germaine De Randamie will take on the two-division champion Amanda Nunes. Her opponent is riding a 9-fight win streak and has defended her belt four times. Whilst the risks for De Randamie are great, the rewards are arguably much greater. The Dutch fighter fought and lost to Amanda Nunes in 2013. “The Lioness” relied on her signature punching power to seal the victory in the first round. De Randamie hasn’t lost a fight since their 2013 showdown. If she can vindicate her performance and defeat Nunes for the first time, De Randamie will become the 8th fighter in UFC history to hold belts in two divisions.

Ben Askren may not be competing inside the Octagon anymore, but he can certainly give his views on what’s happening in the current landscape of the sport – and as you can imagine, he’s quite interested in the headliner at UFC 245 this Saturday night. Askren is a known critic of both Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman, the two of whom will meet for the UFC Welterweight Championship tomorrow night in Las Vegas, Nevada. At one stage it even looked like Askren’s trajectory was taking him towards a fight against one of these two men, but Jorge Masvidal had other ideas.

Holloway has a plethora of accolades, including wins over Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis. Volkanovski acknowledges the difficult task at hand, but he believes he can overcome any challenge that Holloway presents.

The UFC has revealed that a heavyweight clash between knockout artists Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik will headline UFC Columbus. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto confirmed the news late Thursday night. Ngannou vs. Rozenstruik will headline a UFC Fight Night event on March 28 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Mike Perry recently said it was “on sight” when he sees Colby Covington at UFC 245 and he has now doubled down on that statement. During media day on Thursday, the two were in the same room for the first time and Perry took the time to heckle him during interviews. He also revealed UFC security came up to him to tell him not to do anything as they heard his ‘on sight’ threat.

Colby Covington says that if he doesn’t get a pay increase, UFC 245 will be his final fight and he’ll head to WWE. Covington has had disputes with the UFC saying they use ‘slave labor’ negotiations and has even slammed promotional President Dana White. Now, ahead of his fight against Kamaru Usman, he makes it clear he is not happy with his pay. He says something needs to change if he is going to fight again after UFC 245.

Earlier this week UFC President Dana White made headlines when he suggested that if Conor McGregor defeats Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, it could set up a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov. That news did not sit well with top lightweight contender Justin Gaethje, who proceeded to rip the UFC boss over his comments calling the idea “a total crock of sh*t”.

The number 2 ranked welterweight has come under scrutiny for his controversial comments. His various criticisms range from racially charged insults at the crowd following his Rafael Dos Anjos fight, his MAGA advocacy, and insults directed at teammates including Jorge Masvidal.

Aldo’s decision to drop down to the 135-pound weight class caught many fans and analysts by surprise, as the former UFC champion had always flirted with the idea of moving up a division to lightweight in past interviews.

He’ll be welcomed to this new division by former UFC title challenger and World Series of Fighting champ Marlon Moraes — certainly not a tune-up fight. Before Aldo can even think about dealing with the challenge that is Moraes, however, he’ll have to make the 136-pound limit for their fight. Given that he was always a pretty hefty featherweight, the widespread expectation is that his final cut down to 136 could be quite difficult.
