Valentina Shevchenko puts her women’s flyweight title on the line against Katlyn Chookagian in the co-headliner of tonight’s UFC 247 event. Shevchenko (18-3 MMA) has gone a perfect 4-0 since dropping to flyweight. She captured the promotions 125lbs title at UFC 231 with a unanimous decision victory over Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and has since defended her title against Jessica Eye (KO) and Liz Carmouche (decision).

UFC heads to Portland on April 11, seven fights announced for the card

The UFC will head to Portland, Oregon on April 11 for a UFC Fight Night event headlined by a heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris. The promotion announced the news on their official website earlier this evening. The event will take place at the Moda Center.

Jon Jones will put his light heavyweight title on the line against undefeated contender Dominick Reyes in the headliner of tonight’s UFC 247 event in Houston. Jones (25-1 MMA) was most recently seen in action at July’s UFC 239 event, where he scored a split decision victory over Thiago Santos to retain his 205lbs strap. Prior to his win over Santos, ‘Bones’ had scored a decision victory over Anthony Smith at UFC 235, which was preceded by a TKO victory over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232.

The UFC invited Adesanya and Romero to UFC 247 this weekend and before the card on Saturday night they held a press conference for next month’s UFC 248 event that both men are headlining. Adesanya vs. Romero is taking place because No. 1 contender Paulo Costa is injured and unable to fight for the belt.

MacDonald has been on vacation this week with his family in Florida and decided to drop into Hard Knocks to get some training in with head coach Henri Hooft. UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe that Conor McGregor has any interest in a rematch against him. Poirier and McGregor first met way back at UFC 178 in September 2014 in a featherweight bout. At the time, Poirier was one of the top contenders at 145lbs, while McGregor was on his way up the ladder. Looking back, it’s crazy to see that McGregor vs. Poirier was third on the main card behind Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso in the main event and Donald Cerrone vs. Eddie Alvarez in the co-main event.

The UFC 247 weigh-ins took place Friday morning and all 24 fighters scheduled to fight on Saturday’s pay-per-view card made weight for the event. In the main event of the evening, both the champion and challenger successfully made weight, meaning we officially have a title fight. UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones weighed in one pound under the championship title fight limit at 204lbs. His opponent for the fight, Dominick Reyes, came in at the championship weight limit of 205lbs.
