Former Pride middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva was recently hit by his car while riding his bike, breaking his foot and sustaining some pretty nasty looking wounds. It was the Brazilian MMA legend’s second such accident in a four-year span. He says wearing a helmet save his life on both occasions.
Colby Covington vs. Tyron Woodley betting odds released

The oddsmakers have released the opening odds for a potential welterweight grudge match between bitter rivals Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley. Woodley said this week that the UFC has already contacted him about a potential Covington matchup and the former UFC welterweight champion says he has accepted the fight. Woodley and Covington have been involved in a heated rivalry for a few years now, and finally, in 2020 it seems like we may see these two settle their beef inside the Octagon. The fight is not yet official but it seems highly likely to be booked soon.

Three-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson is ending his retirement and moving up to the heavyweight division. According to a report from Combate, Gustafsson is targeting a return to action on July 25 on the UFC’s widely discussed Fight Island. The frontrunners for his comeback fight, per the report, are former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, and former interim light heavyweight title challenge Ovince Saint Preux.

Burns became a top contender following his dominant decision win over Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC Vegas. A light heavyweight battle between legends Mauricio Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been added to the UFC Fight Night card on July 25. Rua and Nogueira had been previously booked for the old UFC 250 card that was set to take place in Brazil, this before it was eventually scrapped. The UFC was able to keep the matchup intact and now the two have been re-booked for a Fight Night event on July 25 that is expected to take place at Fight Island. A middleweight bout between Robert Whittaker and Darren Till headlines that card.

Amanda Nunes believes she had coronavirus

UFC women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes believes she may have been infected by the coronavirus a few months ago. Nunes, who defends her 145lbs strap this weekend at UFC 250 against Felicia Spencer, told Combate that she believes she was infected by the coronavirus on a trip to Las Vegas a few months ago. According to Nunes, she felt sick when she returned home to Florida and passed along her illness to her fiancee Nina Ansaroff. Nunes says she was never actually tested for COVID-19 but is convinced she had it and defeated it.
Dana White pushes Fight Island debut ahead, now targeting June 27

UFC President Dana White says we could be seeing fights on his much-discussed Fight Island as soon as June 27. White has been battling hard to keep promoting fights during the coronavirus pandemic. While he’s managed to promote a handful of events in Jacksonville, Florida, and at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, those events have been populated by American fighters, and fighters based on US soil.
