Hermansson is set to step back into the Octagon on Saturday night for the first time since his win over Kelvin Gastelum on Fight Island. “The Joker” was set to face both Darren Till and Kevin Holland before they were forced to pull out, and now, he’s square off against fellow European star Marvin Vettori.

UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori opened as the betting favorite for his upcoming main event fight against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 16. Vettori was originally slated to fight Ronaldo Souza at UFC 256, but after Kevin Holland tested positive for COVID-19 and was removed from UFC Fight Night 16, the UFC matched up Vettori against Hermansson. Holland, in turn, is now scheduled to fight Souza a week later. Vettori will now take on Hermansson in his very first UFC main event and it’s the first time he’s been booked to fight five rounds during his career.

Hermansson was originally slated to take on Darren Till in the main event of UFC Vegas 16, which is set for December 5 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, bad luck hit Till and he was forced out of the fight. The UFC was then able to get Holland to step in on short notice and save the card, but he tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw. The UFC then played musical chairs, matching up Marvin Vettori with Hermansson and Holland against Ronaldo Souza.

Surging middleweight contender Marvin Vettori (15-4-1 MMA) has agreed to replace Kevin Holland against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 16. Holland was expected to face ‘The Joker’ in the headliner of the December 5 event but was forced to pullout of the fight after contracting Covid-19 according to ESPN.

Hermansson was originally scheduled to fight Darren Till on December 5 at a UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas, but Till withdrew due to injury and was replaced by Holland. Hermansson is a top-five fighter but decided to accept the fight against an unranked opponent. On paper, this looks like a great fight for the fans even if Holland isn’t ranked just because of what could happen if the fight between these two hits the ground.

With both Till and Hermansson looking to prove they are worthy of a title fight against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, this was a very important fight at 185lbs. Unfortunately, Till announced he had to withdraw from the bout this week. Kevin Holland will fight Hermansson now.

Middleweight contender Jack Hermansson says the UFC still wants him to fight Chris Weidman after their fight for UFC Oklahoma City was canceled. Hermansson was set to fight Weidman in the main event of the Oklahoma City card that was eventually canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the bigger problem is that Hermansson is from Europe and there are travel restrictions right now to get him to the United States. The UFC was already looking at alternate opponents for Weidman, including matchups against Yoel Romero and Edmen Shahbazyan.
