Adam D Martin - November 24, 2021
Dustin Poirier says he will “probably go to 170” if he defeats UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira for the 155lbs strap at UFC 269. Poirier is set to return to the Octagon next month when he takes on Oliveira for the UFC’s 155lbs belt. Despite being the challenger, Poirier is actually the betting favorite on paper heading into the fight to win the title. Should that happen, then there is speculation that Poirier might decide to walk away from the sport just because he would have accomplished so much at that point. But according to Poirier, he has no plans on hanging up his gloves. If anything, Poirier says, he would want to challenge himself by moving up to 170lbs instead.

Chael Sonnen calls a fourth fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier "a tough sell"
Adam D Martin - November 23, 2021
MMA analyst Chael Sonnen called a fourth fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier “a tough sell” for his return fight to the Octagon. McGregor and Poirier fought twice this year, with McGregor losing via TKO both times. Their fight at UFC 257 resulted in Poirier winning by second-round knockout with punches, but at UFC 264, the fight ended with McGregor breaking his leg. Since then, the Irishman has been out on the sidelines with his injury, but he is hoping that he gets the fourth fight when he returns to the Octagon. However, Sonnen believes that is going to be “a tough sell,” as he explained in a new video. As far as Sonnen goes, there is no reason to book this fight.

Justin Gaethje believes Dustin Poirier would rather walk away than fight him again
Adam D Martin - November 12, 2021
UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje believes that divisional rival Dustin Poirier would rather walk away than fight him again. Gaethje defeated Michael Chandler on the UFC 268 main card to likely become the next man to fight for the belt at 155lbs, which is currently owned by UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Poirier and Oliveira meet next month in the main event of UFC 269, and Gaethje is hoping that he gets to face the winner of that matchup for the belt. However, he is unsure if Poirier would actually go ahead and fight him again.

Adam D Martin - November 12, 2021
UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje says “I have to fight the winner of Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier to justify the integrity of (MMA).” Gaethje defeated Michael Chandler via unanimous decision in a “Fight of the Year” candidate at UFC 268 last weekend in New York City. It was a phenomenal fight by both men, who went the distance in an all-out war, but at the end of the 15 minutes, it was Gaethje who was the winner on the judges’ scorecards. He maintains his No. 2 spot in the UFC lightweight division rankings and he hopes that it’s enough for him to get the next title shot against the winner of UFC 269’s Dustin Poirier vs. Charles Oliveira fight.
Conor McGregor slams the UFC for “garbage” promo highlighting his losses to Dustin Poirier
Adam D Martin - November 10, 2021
UFC superstar Conor McGregor slammed the UFC for a “garbage” promo highlighting his losses to Dustin Poirier ahead of December’s UFC 269. McGregor knocked out Poirier at their first meeting at UFC 178 back in September 2014, but in 2021, he lost twice to his rival. In January at UFC 257, Poirier knocked out McGregor in what was an incredible upset. Then at UFC 264 in July, it was Poirier who once again defeated McGregor to win the trilogy by a score of 2-1. However, the trilogy fight ended with McGregor losing via broken leg. In the months since then, McGregor has made it clear that he does not believe Poirier’s second victory was legitimate. So when the promo video for UFC 269 came out and showed Poirier beating up McGregor, the Irish superstar was not happy about it, and he made sure to let the UFC know just that.
Dustin Poirier is the best lightweight in the world, not Charles Oliveira, says coach
Adam D Martin - October 12, 2021
Dustin Poirier is the best lightweight in the world, not UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, says his coach Mike Brown. Poirier takes on Oliveira at UFC 269 in December with the 155lbs belt on the line. Oliveira won the vacant title when he knocked out Michael Chandler back at UFC 262 in May. But despite being the UFC lightweight champion and holding the belt, there are still a number of people in the MMA community who think that he isn’t the best lightweight in the sport. After all, Poirier turned down the title shot to fight Conor McGregor in a trilogy match. So it’s the opinion of some, including Brown, that Poirier is actually the true No. 1 lightweight.

Harry Kettle - October 11, 2021
UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier believes Daniel Cormier could replace Dana White as UFC president one day. It’s a task that many folks probably wouldn’t want, given the stress that comes with it, but for many years now Dana White has held the position of being UFC president. It doesn’t appear as if he’s going to step down anytime soon but when he does, the company needs to be ready to replace him.

Dustin Poirier disagrees with Justin Gaethje calling Charles Oliveira a "quitter"
Adam D Martin - September 24, 2021
Dustin Poirier disagrees with divisional rival Justin Gaethje calling UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira a “quitter.” There were times in the past when Oliveira would close up shop if things weren’t going his way in his fights, but those days are long ago. Oliveira is now the UFC lightweight champion and he showed in his title fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 262 that he can take a punch and still keep on coming. After losing a 10-8 first round on the judges’ scorecards to Chandler at UFC 266, Oliveira came back in the second round and knocked his rival out. While in the past, Oliveira may have given up after getting hurt and facing adversity, he showed Chandler that he has a lot more heart in it now than he did before.
Justin Gaethje blasts "quitter" Charles Oliveira ahead of Dustin Poirier title fight at UFC 269
Adam D Martin - September 16, 2021
UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje blasted “quitter” Charles Oliveira ahead of the Dustin Poirier title fight at UFC 269. Oliveira knocked out Michael Chandler at UFC 262 to become the new UFC lightweight champion, and he will put his belt on the line against Poirier at UFC 269 in December. Gaethje has been critical of Oliveira since he won the belt, as he didn’t believe that Michael Chandler should have been the one fighting for the vacant belt. With Gaethje now fighting Chandler at UFC 268, a win there could very well earn him a title shot against the winner of the Oliveira vs. Poirier fight. And if you ask Gaethje, that will be Poirier getting the win.
