Tonight’s UFC 284 main card is kicked off by a light heavyweight bout between Jimmy Crute and Alonzo Menifield. Crute (12-3 MMA) will be looking to snap a two-fight losing skid in front of a hometown crowd. ‘The Brute’ is coming off back-to-back knockout losses against Jamahal Hill and Anthony Smith.

Cole Shelton - February 7, 2023

Jimmy Crute is set to end his 14-month layoff at UFC 284. Crute last fought in December of 2021 when he suffered a KO loss to Jamahal Hill. A couple of months later, Crute revealed he would be going under the knife for a serious knee injury. After rehabbing it, the timing worked out for him to have his return fight at home in Australia.

Chris Taylor - October 15, 2022

A light heavyweight bout between Misha Cirkunov and Alonzo Menifield kicks off tonight’s UFC Vegas 62 main card lineup. Cirkunov (15-9 MMA) will enter the bout with hopes of snapping a three-fight losing skid. The Canadian suffered a submission loss to Wellington Turman in his most recent effort this past February.

Alonzo Menifield had one of the more unusual UFC fight weeks in recent memory. Menifield was set to welcome Askar Mozharov to the Octagon back at UFC Vegas 56 in June, in what was expected to be a banger of a fight. However, fight week was an unusual one as Mozahrov had a record of 25-7 but by the time he made the walk to the Octagon his record was 18-13 as he had used fake names and had fights that never took place on his record.

Alonzo Menifield knew there was a lot of pressure on him entering his UFC 260 fight. Originally, Menifield was set to face William Knight but just three days before Knight was out of the fight due to testing positive for COVID-19. When Menifield found out the news, he was disappointed as he thought he wouldn’t get the chance to fight.

Alonzo Menifield will remain on UFC 260 but he won’t fight William Knight. Menifield and Knight were supposed to fight on February 27 but Menifield tested positive for COVID-19 and the fight was postponed to this Saturday’s UFC 260. However, the UFC announced that Knight is out of the fight and has been rebooked to fight Da-un Jung on April 10. Menifield, meanwhile, will remain on UFC 260 and he will face LFA light heavyweight champion Fabio Cherant.

Tonight’s UFC Vegas 9 co-main event featured former interim light heavyweight title challenger Ovince Saint Preux taking on Alonzo Menifield. Saint Preux (24-14 MMA) had entered tonight’s contest looking to rebound, this after suffering a split decision loss to Ben Rothwell in his most recent Octagon appearance. Prior to his setback to ‘Big Ben’, ‘OSP’ was coming off a submission victory over Michal Oleksiejczuk while utilizing his infamous Von Flue choke.

Tonight’s UFC on ESPN 15 fight card just took a major hit as the scheduled co-main event between Ovince Saint Preux and Alonzo Menifield has been called off. Saint Preux (24-14 MMA) tested positive and negative for the Coronavirus during fight week, before a positive test this morning ruled out his ability to compete at the event.

Ovince Saint Preux had no hesitation when offered a bout with Alonzo Menifield on short notice. Originally, Saint Preux was expected to battle Shamil Gamzatov this Saturday night but his opponent withdrew. On just a week and a half notice, Menifield took the fight. For “OSP,” he says he just wanted to fight and the opponent didn’t matter.

Alonzo Menifield was ecstatic when he got the call to step up on short notice to take on Ovince Saint Preux. Ever since Menifield lost his first professional fight to Devin Clark at UFC 250, the Fortis MMA product wanted to make a quick turnaround to get the bad taste out of his mouth. So, when he was offered a co-main event spot against a perennial contender, Ovince Saint Preux, he knew he couldn’t turn it down.

Alonzo Menifield will return to the Octagon for the first time in nearly a year to battle Devin Clark. Multiple sources confirmed to BJPENN.com that Menifield will take on Devin Clark on June 6 at a location to be announced. The contracts have already been issued and signed, the sources confirmed.

Alonzo Menifield did not want to be on the UFC Minneapolis card on Saturday. He was hoping to fight sooner. The light heavyweight last fought back in January, when he knocked out Vinicius Moreira at UFC Brooklyn. Since then, he has been wanting to fight, but this was the first offer that came. Now, the 31-year-old is looking to go 2-0 in the UFC and he believes he knows exactly how it will happen.

Instead, he laid waste to his opponent Dashawn Boatwright in a mere eight seconds, earning himself a UFC contract in the process. Having earned this UFC contract, Alonzo Menifield is now eagerly awaiting his promotional debut. While nothing is set in stone just yet, he’s hoping to make this debut at UFC 229 on October 6th — perhaps against somebody like Scotland’s Paul Craig or Moldova’s Ion Cutelaba.
