Bellator MMA announced on Tuesday that Douglas Lima vs. Michael Page 2 will headline the promotion’s upcoming event in London, England. Lima vs. Page 2 will headline Bellator 267, which takes place on October 1 at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England. The promotion made the matchup official on Tuesday.

Page returns to the cage this Friday at Bellator 258 when he takes on Derek Anderson. Page, the No. 2 contender in the Bellator welterweight rankings, has been criticized by fans for taking fights against non-ranked and lower-ranked opponents. But despite fighting opponents who do not have much name value, Page believes that he is still the top contender in the Bellator welterweight division, and he believes Lima is ducking him.

Mousasi won a unanimous decision over Lima in the main event of Thursday’s Bellator 250 card. Mousasi was able to control the cage for the entire fight as he walked Lima down, outstruck him, and landed some takedowns for good measure. It was nice to see a vintage performance from Mousasi, as he reclaimed the middleweight belt he lost two fights ago in an upset loss to Rafael Lovato Jr. Overall, Mousasi has won 10 of his last 11 fights.

Win or lose, Lima will likely make a title defense of his welterweight bout next, and one of the top contenders in the division is Page. After defeating Ross Houston at Bellator Paris in his last fight, Page suggested that the reason he isn’t fighting for the belt yet is that Lima is ducking him.

Lima and Mousasi had previously been set to meet at Bellator 242 in May, but the card was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The promotion has been able to re-book the fight and it will now headline the organization’s Bellator 250 event on October 29. That is on a Thursday, a move that Bellator intends to make permanent going forward.

While this is exciting news for MacDonald and the PFL, it does represent an unfortunate twist for fans who were hoping to see a rematch between MacDonald and reigning Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima in the future. Lima and MacDonald are tied 1-1 across two exciting fights, and now, with MacDonald moving to another promotion, it seems unlikely that we’ll see them meet in a tie-breaker anytime soon.
